lol i had a feeling u guys weren't gonna believe me. It was around 1993 so i was about 15. It was a long time ago, but i remember when i was 15 lol.  I saw the game in the club turbo catalog, and i went to the mall specifically to buy TV Sports Baseball. I remember seeing it there, and the price was 79.99. I remember the box being yellow. I was looking at it, i wanted to buy it, but i decided to buy air zonk instead because it was on sale for 24.99. I saw it with my own eyes. It wasn't world class baseball, tv sports hockey, tv sports football or tv sports basketball. I had all those already. Could it be possible that it was released just before the end of turbo grafx, but never sold? If nobody buys a game is it considered unreleased?

The game was actually rated.. so it must have been completed and available! The first paragraph states its "release". Has to be out there in the wild somewhere!

"Upcoming release" is implied there.

You mentioned yellow, so what you saw was indeed World Class Baseball.  =)

No.  Had it actually been completed and produced for retail sale, TZD would've had 'em for sale like they did with all the other unsold product; it's far far more likely that you're mistaken about the game title or even that the store made a mock-up to get people's interest.

...unless it was a prototype or something for mags to preview/review in advance

That's usually the way it's done, as there's not much point in writing about a game that the reader has already seen in person.

Aren't all the sports games yellow...? for the most part.

I bet it was some mockup box to get interest going, like how gamestop does.

I wanted TV Sports Baseball so bad it would have been the first 5 player baseball and from original trailers it looked as though it was going to be the best of the TV Sports series. I don't play to many sports games these days which is what originally got me playing videogames back in the day. I loved NHL Hockey and Super Monaco on the Genny :)

I can confirm, for sure, that TV Sports Baseball was finished (or at least nearly finished) for the TG-16.  I was at the '92 Summer CES in McCormick Place in Chicago.  They had TV Sports Baseball running on a Turbo Express at the back of the TTI booth.  I played it for about 10 minutes before moving on to other games at the booth.  It wasn't in TurboChip form yet (it was still on a green PCB sticking out of the back of the TurboExpress).  There were a ton of games I played there that never made it to the states.  They had a big Home Run Derby set up near the front of the booth for World Class Baseball '93.  Their booth was actually more impressive than Sega's... Though Nintendo's booth really took the cake there.

a.) I was 15 at the time.
b.) It was locked onto the Turbo Express itself, which was bolted onto the display.

It was completed. It was never released, however.

We (TBD) were in contact with a dude that owned one of the prototype PCBs that reviewed the game for a magazine way back in the day. He doesn't have it anymore, unfortunately, but was able to confirm the game was fully complete.

It's not clear why it was never released, but rest assured, it wasn't.

Hi guys, I was looking through the "Turbo Gear" mini catalog and a game title caught my eye.

Under the "Family" Section there is a game titled "Discis Reading Series" (CD).

Does anyone know the background behind this game.  Was the name changed to something we are familiar with or was it in fact an "announced" game that never made it?

Thanks

That one didn't make it.  Discis made a bunch of 'learn to read' interactive games for computers, but porting one to the Duo didn't pan out.
