Getting back to this topic, it seems to me that while a lot of games for the Turbo weren't "sequels" per se, many are spiritual descendants.  Neutopia has more in common with the original Zelda than that games' own sequels do, Dungeon Explorer is basically Gauntlet the RPG, and, ummm.... you guys can probably come up with more.  Also, Turbo got Galaga '88, which is probably the best game in that franchise, and as far as I know Turbo is the only system that has it.

I vote for Crystalis, one of my favourite RPGs ever.  Faxanadu is also a favourite of mine (anything RPG + platformer is, really), but it has descendants in other forms & I've never seen another game quite like Crystalis.  Basically the same thing again but with better graphics, slightly longer quest, & more character interaction.

I'm not sure how I would feel about a Mega Man on the PCE, because I really haven't cared for any of the nextgen graphics Capcom's come up with for the series.  But Contra would have rocked (would have been a perfect fit, I think) and I would totally love a Dragon Quest title with just slightly more detailed graphics.  That, to my mind, would be perfect.

It has cool mech stylings like many PCE games, so it would have fit right in.  Not sure what they could do to make it better aside from better graphics and sound, I just would have liked having more levels to play!

Yeah, but the compilations use the arcade version, which IMO is actually worse than the PCE version.

There were a few neat yet unsung platform games that could have had really nice PCE sequels or prequels:

Metal Storm
Power Blade series
G.I. Joe series
Hokuto no Ken (Fist of the North Star)

It's a crying shame the PCE didn't get an rpg sequel to the Keith Courage Famicom RPG

It feels to me like the PCE version is faster, more colorful and controls smoother.  And yes, the music somehow has an oomph on the PCE's soundchip that it seems to lack on the actual arcade hardware.

I'm actually surprised Hokuto no Ken didn't appear on the PCE, since Nintendo by no means owned that series (indeed, Sega for awhile had the license... oh, wait).

G.I. Joe was probably far too dead by the time the Turbo came out, or else they really, really didn't like the DIC seasons.  Woulda been cool to hear a chiptune rendition of "Got to get tough!  Yo Joe!"  though.

Doctor Octoroc did a chiptune version of the G.I. Joe theme song on his album, "After These Messages."  You can get it here: http://www.doctoroctoroc.com/after-these-messages/ (The download is through a Paypal link, but you pay what you want).
