After I said I couldn't think of any games of ours that would be good for a Hucard, I thought about this.  I don't have any musical plans for it, & I don't recall there being any cinematic plans either, so this could probably work.  Just need someone to made some nice chip tunes.....which would not be me sadly.

I confess to not giving a flying crap about cinemas. It's eye and ear candy (if done well) but nothing more, IMO. I would much rather see attention given to the game.

Well, if you're using a standard EPROM type I'm sure someone else could figure out how to reprogram it, too. EPROM programmers aren't super cheap, but if someone else wants it enough, it might happen.

If someone wants to go through all that trouble, more power to them.

I can't even pony up enough spare change for a Super CD-ROM unit, so it won't be me. It was mostly just a gut reaction to the "we can flash it, you can't" thing. I don't like closed environments. In retrospect, that was more to point out that you weren't using flash memory.

Which leads me to another question. Are EPROMs more affordable and easier to deal with than some kind of simple flash memory?

Thats not the thing, the thing is you would need a way to attach the card.  The ROM is going to be soldered to the board.  No sockets here.

Good luck getting it off and back on safely if you don't have a different way to program it, lol.

Lemme guess, you've attached a hucard slot to an EPROM programmer and can burn the ROM while it is already attached. Or something like that. That would be a pretty handy innovation if it is indeed what you've done. Otherwise, soldering isn't too bad. I suck at it and manage to screw it up somehow every time, but others have proved more than capable.

Anyway, more details (and photos) will be coming in the next weeks here when the things are really ready.  Expect another contest coming soon too.  incase you hate China Warrior

Lebron has to be the final boss in Cleveland Warrior... and you should have multiple selectable characters, including Wild Thing Vaughn.

So Arkan, does this mean we will finally get an Ultima style game for PCE/Turbo? You know it would be a bitchin' game to release on Huey... =P~

Y'know, Mishran, that's a great idea. What about it, Arky? You keep talkin' up Ultima. Give it to us! Use this fantastic new toy of yours to bring the joy of Ultima to the PCE!

I'm really itching to see the finished product that emerges from these protos. I imagine it'll be pretty snazzy. Have you picked out a manufacturing partner and a more polished design?

There will be other contests that aren't China Warrior. :)

These prototypes are to raise the funds to get the non-handmade ones made.  Pretty much anywhere can do that.

And no, I'm not starting Ultima until the other stuff is done.  I don't want to put all my eggs in 40 baskets and watch them all rot.

That's reasonable. I can wait. I am much more waiting for your Defender clone, however. Once your classes are done for the semester I hope you'll give us some video as improvements come out.
