I'd like to see it translated.

I don't think this game has been explored, yet. I'm not overly concerned. The truly important bits should be relatively easy to get to and alter. Not only that, but we can pull pre-existing data and graphics out of the original military madness for consistency.

I'm interested in seeing this translated, and in light of the multiple completed translations I won't be pissing down my legs that 'nothing ever gets done'.

Like I said before, it was already translated on the Playstation 1, so really all that needs to be done is rip the text from the Playstation 1 version and then reinsert the text in the pce version. It was even done on the Iphone, though I'm not sure if its in English or not.

I don't remember Nectaris on PS1 being the same game as Neo Nectaris on PCE.

The PlayStation 1 game is not Neo Nectaris. In fact, the PS version takes a step backwards in that it ignores all the nice incremental changes introduced by Neo. The PS version is truly "Nectaris 1.1"

If you are curious, you can read more on why Neo Nectaris is special.

The way you linked that to prove a point actually made it funny.   Way to back it up!

Then rip the text from the Iphone version: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/military-madness-neo-nectaris/id353118773?mt=8
The point I was making that you can just rip the text from the already translated game instead of starting a whole new translation. Translating 8 units and a few other things different from the psx version shouldn't be all that difficult.
FYI, I did know that the two games were different.

The whole reason I asked is because this seems like it would be relatively quick easy to translate.  The text and graphics swaps needed are fairly minimal compared to something huge like Ziria 2.  The Dracula X translation project got me thinking about this.  The same argument could be made for Dracula X... i.e., it's not worth translating because it's playable anyway.  Well, I personally think that argument is invalid.  If there's interest in translating it, I say go for it.  If someone's willing to translate it, I'm willing to do what little graphical work is needed.

We've got enough folks here to crowdsource a translation. Frag, can you pull out all the graphical tiles that need translating? The text itself is another issue altogether. The graphical tiles are the best to deal with up front since they are the most critical to playing the damn game.

Well, I already just ripped the tiles from MM1 that say "Attack", "Shift", "End" etc.  I can spruce those up a little bit, if need be.  I also redid the title screen.  I'll take a look and see what other graphics that need translated I can rip, but I think I'll be hard pressed to find them.  The rest is a lot of text.  I also made a quick list of all the new units.  I'm not sure what they were renamed to in the PC version, but I know their alphanumeric designations.

New units
---------
KM-55 air mine
SR-22 2-shot artillery
TB-10 armored bomb
HA-55 ???
GX-97 new robot?

For whatever it's worth, here are the unit's names from Base Nectaris (both names are used):

KM-55 - KrazeeTrigger / AirTrig
SR-22 - AtlasShrugged / Shrug
TB-10 - TimeBomb / T-Bomb
HA-55 - KanonFodder / Kanon
GX-97 - Teknik

I believe those are just the names that the site owner gave 'em.  Here's the more literal translation of the eight new units (from here):

BT-90 - Gaadin
BT-91 - Majuu
BT-92 - Burenaa
SR-22 - Girumoa
GX-97 - Fakuta
TB-10 - Maito2
KM-55 - Rappuru
HA-55 - Kanon

Exactly, I made up those goofy names many years ago :)

Here is an earnest attempt at translating the 8 new items.

I thought some of the literal translations were boring/lacked continuity with unit names from localized Military Madness.

I made it clear that those were my own goofy nicknames, of course.

The funny thing is Hudson used some of my wacky names! :) I don't know how consistent Hudson has been with the localized names across iOS, XBOX, PS3, old mobile phones, etc., but here's info from iPhone version:

HA-55 Kanon --> Gauntlet (I prefer my "KanonFodder")

KM-55 - Rappuru --> AirTrigger (They used my name! Woohoo! Well, I called it "AirTrig". I also called this "KrazeeTrigger" because I wanted to build on the "K" in "KM-55"))

TB-10 - Maito2 --> T-Bomb (Time Bomb) (My name. It's pretty obvious, though.)

GX-97 - Fakuta --> Teknic (Yay! They used my name)

SR-22 - Girumoa --> Aegis (My lame "Atlas Shrugged" was to maintain continuity with MM's "Atlas". Also, for the record, I am politically opposed to Ayn Rand.)

BT-92 - Burenaa --> BioHawk (Oh, dear Lord! I prefer my corny "Rodan-sans-wings"...or maybe not.)

BT-91 - Majuu --> BioHulk (Come on, you know you prefer "BioBeast")

BT-90 - Majuu --> BioSpyder ("DaddyLongLegs"? I don't know what I was thinking, but it's better than "BioSpyder"!.)
