not accusing anyone here, but more just venting.
I woke up this morning and checked my email, as per usual, to find that there was a charge to the iTunes store (I own exactly 0 apple products)
so I look at it a bit, and find no help, as I have no receipt from apple, presumably because the email it was sent to was someone else's.
of course, the transaction was a whole 2.12, so i figured "eh" and wasn't going to bother anyone, and just change my password and such.
HOWEVER - in the middle of doing that, I got another email, telling me that $45 had been pulled from my account.
at that point, I figure it's time to file the dispute, so I do.

I guess my question is, is there anything else I can do?  this is my first time having a real problem with paypal.

Seriously: unlink any bank accounts and credit cards and tell your bank that PayPal is not authorized to access your account.

Sorry to hear about your troubles.  Back in 2001 I had someone get into my paypal account.  I don't ever remember ordering a breast pump!    Anyway paypal was useless in helping me.  I had to actually call USAA who I go through as a Credit Card.  They were more than happy to fix it for me.  They credited my account right away and said "if they have a problem they can contact us"  I did let paypal know first, then contacted my CC company.  I hope you can get this resolved.  This is one more reason I will never use a Bank Account for my paypal.  Don't need checks balancing or overdraft cause of a damn paypal hack.

Wow..  that is serious bullshit.  You will get it sorted tho.  Paypal should be able to trace where the money went to, and from what attached email used it.  So, for them to NOT be able to help is horseshit.  Yes, contact your bank, and file a dispute there as well.

PayPal as a whole is mostly a bunch of morons with rules/procedures that don't accomplish much on the user end.

You should be able to recover the money though. 

paypal has this stupid thing going where if theres disputes, you can't unlink accounts either.   Or at least, it used to work like that, so you definitely want to tell your bank to block Paypal from using your account.

One more good reason to NEVER link your bank info with anything.  Linking your cards is enough, and can be stopped fairly easy if something happens.  Screw linking them to my accounts any other way, even if they insist its the way to go.  lol.

That $30 you'll have to dispute through paypal.  I believe if you have your CC or bank do it, it goes back onto your card or straight into the bank account, but the paypal $30 is going to have to come from paypal fixing the issue.  Sadly I would dispute through them first and go from there.  I really wish you the best of luck.

My itunes account got hacked this morning. Paypal emailed me a receipt of 27.61 for some crappy App. I've never ordered anything off itunes. I totally forgot that you have to link your account to a bank account or credit card when you initially register your itunes software. I filed a complaint with Paypal and called the itunes Customer service and my paypal was refunded when I came back from work. I promptly removed my bank/paypal info from itunes as that is only needed upon registration.

Well if you have multiple users of the same machine this could be a problem. Anybody who touches your account, or anything near it can be a suspect.

Take care of the problem as fast as possible.

NEVER link your bank info

Here is the thing. Money stored in a paypal account is really stored in multiple banks, across the United States. Meaning your account might even be in the same bank you keep your savings in.

Banks share your financial information with other variants, including the goverment.

Everyone is right. You want to take their advice. Also go to your bank and ask if you can file a claim against paypal for fraud. My bank has told me that they can do stuff like this for free if someone over charges or double charges me anywhere.

Also, when using a card in public, be wary of people who double swipe your card or tell you that you need to swipe again because of blah blah blah.

EDIT: This is why I have always hesitated to have a paypal account. I've just read too many scary things about them and the way they treat some of their customers.

Aaaah... The classic paypal hijack. It's everywhere. Okay. Don't go out and buy anything that you might like on ebay, etc, to have for fear of not being able to get it later (rubber dongs) and don't worry about December 21st whether anything actually happens that day or not.
