New guy here...if anyone recognizes the name from some other message board, I could be the same person as I use the same username on every message board I'm on, so if anyone knows me, speak up lol.

I'm new to the whole TG-16 scene here, but looking to get into it to add some more kewlness to my collection.

I'm hoping to find one at the upcoming Midwest Gaming Classic...though, if I don't find one there, i'll probably just search one out on ebay or something haha.

So with that said, what would be some good games/accessories to get started with?

Metallica Man X, let me re-welcome you into our community:

Welcome, comrade.

As Necromancer pointed out, we do have a lot of threads asking about the "best games" or "recommended games" for newbies :)

Now, I'll be the first to admit that the search function on this boards sucks (not as much as Metallica, but it's pretty bad), so I am sure we would be happy to provide some links to help you out.

First, though, please tell us some basic info:

(1) what hardware/software do you have?
(2) do you have a budget?
(3) what genres are you particularly interested in? or do you want to sample everything (to get the "full TG-16 experience")?

ASIDE: Metallica sucks. But don't take it personally. We honestly don't care if you like them, we just want you to enjoy TG-16, play the games, ask questions, and share your thoughts. This will ensure that we forget about money-worshipping losers like Metallica and the shitty crap they dump onto their albums.

I'm kidding! It's too easy to tease you about Metallica! I'd actually have a harder time teasing you about liking Mariah Carey, if only because she isn't nearly as big a douchebag as Lars is.

:)

You could try a multitap and bomberman, drag some of your pals down with you into the depths of TG collecting ;)

Seriously though, Bomberman owns.

UPDATE: Since I had Some Kind of Monster sitting in a red envelope for several days now I decided, because of this thread, to watch it last night.

Holy SHIT those guys are pathetic. Dude driving around in a rat rod so clean you can eat off it. Flip flops. TERRIBLE lyrics. All sniffling and crying about total bullshit. Those guys are about as metal as the latest DDR game on Wii. f*cking HELL they are lame.

Contrast this with, for example, Iron Maiden: Flight 666 (which I cannot recommend highly enough to everyone, metal heads or not) and you will see the difference. IM are probably just as rich as Metallica, and they can be sorta whores sometimes as well, but they are as real as it can possibly f*cking get.

As as for the idea that anyone in Metallica has some kind of "top ten" skills (other then vocals that do that "WHHEEEAAAAAYUHH" thing at the end of every f*cking bar), you need to get out more. Obviously they are highly skilled and competent professional musicians, but...seriously. You evidently have no idea where metal can take you, and I feel sorry for you for that. If you think that muddy uninspired dirgey bullshit rocks in anyway...I hope you get better. I'm serious.

Metallica got famous/rich/turned into pussies.

Kirk screws his own solos up now, his playing is sloppy, lars' drum kit sounds like folgers coffee cans.

They're trying to be sweet again.  They won't ever make it back to the Creeping Death style riffs.  They're too stupid.

This thread makes me smile :)

One because I'm pleased to find a group of peers who have their own taste in music and aren't cowed by bullshit just because everyone else says it's good, and two because that comment about Folgers coffee can drumkits is inspired

I understand the sentiment, but there is plenty of good metal being made and appreciated "now" by the same sort of pimply fat D&D nerds that made/loved it in the 80s. All Metallica did was steal its limelight.

Stratovarious, Helloween, Gamma Ray, Blind Guardian, Iron Maiden, and, yeah, Dragonforce. These dudes are still with and a rocking our asses off. It isn't a "then versus now" thing.

WIN for watching it.

Yeah, this is what I was saying earlier. It was truly a shitfest. How anyone can still respect the band is beyond me.

So. Metallica Man X. How is Megadeth pop music? Mustaine shreds.
