Ok, I've spent some more time with the game and...seriously...f*cking NOTHING has happened in quite some time. I haven't seen the ship incrediblehark was talking about yet. I'm pretty sure that's my next main event...however the f*ck you trigger it. BTW, there is only one person left in the peninsula town to the west for some reason. I'm sure that means something.

I can't believe how hard it is to trigger events in a game where there is so little to do. The producer of this game was a DICK.

EDIT: Ok, I spoke too soon. I just talked to a gnome-ish dude in Kasta and Gus walked in saying something urgent, this enabled the event with the ship in the first town. The music is now a bit more exciting. Still no key. Back to flipping burgers.

EDIT: I went to Theo's house and he wasn't there. Went to the cave and he was at the begining. Now the cave is full of monsters...that can actually do damage to me! I AM ALIVE AGAIN!

Did some more stuff. Went to the cave, Theo was inside. Also inside were four of his friends. You'll find them standing next to treasure chests in the first area of the dungeon. Return each of them to Theo and everyone will leave. Now to talk to old man Toma in Bolder. Theo is there as well. They will talk about the boss and mention the key, but not actually give it to you, of course.

EDIT: Went to Azzak's place in Bolder, a bunch of people where there. THEY GAVE ME THE f*ckING KEY!!! Headed to the cave to see what bullshit excuse Falcom has come up with this time to not let me in.

EDIT EDIT: Sure enough. The Boulder Key won't let me in to kill the boss. WTF is it for? No idea. f*cking hell, Falcom.

Back to flipping burgers.

Got another event item in Kasta. A staff?  I can now open that f*cking door!!!

Once through the door you enter an Ys III style style of game play with very nice graphics. Your character also becomes a complete pussy instantly. I have now been killed for the first time since begining the game.

I killed that monster I've heard so much about. This triggered an event, and Sister and I have teleported to the next area.

The cinema was ADPCM audio, not CDA. This has me worried. The music is all PSG, the recorded stuff compressed...how big is this game? I hope I never get the ability to teleport back to previous areas because if I do this takes the potential complexity of the fetch questing several orders of magnitude beyond the insanely stupid bullshit I've experienced already.

Oh well, best not think of that right now, I guess. I'm going to bed. I'll play more tomorrow.

BTW Richard Pryor once had a monkey named Sister. Have you heard that story? It will melt your heart, it will.

Played a bit more last night and made the most minor of progress. I went back to the cave and this time I got the random event at the barrels. When I left I was attacked by some dude who then ran off. I went back to town and there were a bunch of people saying... uh.. who know's what. The dude that was in bed in the little town area to the left of the map appears to be up now. I know which slime you guys are talking about, but I just kill the thing when I try to get him to join up.

I went back to the cave and triggered the event at the barrels, so now I'm on the second world/level/map/whatever and killing some zombies (zombies, f*ck yeah!).  Never did have a little slime follow me around though.

Really? where did you go after you had the event item (Green book?) taken from you by Teo in the mountains?

I probably should've made notes as I went, but it basically went like this: go to town A and talk to everybody twice (day/night), go to town B and talk to everybody twice (day/night), go to town C and talk to everybody twice (day/night), go to town D and talk to everybody twice (day/night), visit the cabin in the woods, hit the cave..... lather, rinse, repeat 'til something happens.

It's like 14 or 17 areas or something, many of which are much bigger than the one you just dealt with. The game was just weaning you on Area 1! The real challenge has yet to present itself. If you actually make it to the final area, I'm wondering what you'll think of the 32-floor (or whatever it is) final tower.

No. It's your lucky day-- all fetch questing is limited to whatever area you're currently playing.

Nat thanks for mentioning the final tower, I was wondering what that map was for that was included with the game. I'm sure it gets a lot harder but im still confident we ca do it

I had four people go into the cave, and Teo was there but I didn't see them next to chests.
