Well, tonight I played for about an hour. It took me a while to figure out how to heal (sleep in the bed in the house with the nun in it). I seem to have lost all the progress I made though because I can't figure out how to save. We probably need to figure that part out pretty quick...

I thought I was saving. I picked the blue file when starting the game. I hit "save" multiple times, and it make a nice little chiming noise as if it were saving. There is a save file in my Duo. I'm attempting to load it by choosing what I'm pretty damned sure is "continue" from the main title screen. "Tsuzuku" or something like that, and choosing "blue" again. Its not working though.

Someone under the posted video said this:

Quote
I wonder if Legend of Xanadu has a game save glitch? Let's say I save my game to the blue sphere. Once I shut the system off and power it back on, If I choose "continue" and select the blue sphere, it says that there is no save and begins the game from the beginning. Then once I begin a new game, I am able to bring up the status screen, choose "load", and my game progress loads. Does this happen to anyone else too?

I played through the entire game some years ago and I had no problem saving or loading from the title screen.

The game requires a huge amount of space for each save. If you have a save, and there is no space left it will fake save, and will result in the game starting over again.

Also mentioned, another game interacts with one of those saves, and the end results will as you described as well.

Probably the reason why this game has a debug/test mode still left inside it. In that mode you can access, all the 3d and 2d areas, and boss chambers. It is kinda depressing because the game is really nice to play.

To resolve the memory I'd back up all your saves to a ram card and delete everything off your internal memory. After doing this I'm saving the Xanadu save to it's own slot on the back up ram card. Just an idea.

Alright, let's talk about check points. I think the first should be the first boss. Here's a map of the first area:

See that cave in the upper left? There's a locked door in there. Behind it is the boss.

Get ready for lots of fetch questing. You'll be running back and forth across these maps, top to bottom, talking to people, going back, re-talking to them, etc, in order to trigger events.

Xanadu is a fantastic game, but only the hardiest of the hardy will make it through to the end.

Quoted for truth.

Do you remember the walkthrough at was incredibly vague that existed on the internets back in 2008? I've been having a heck of a time finding it for a few people who are getting stuck.

Yeah, this was stated from multiple sources multiple times during the voting process and still Xanadu 1 came out ahead. I sure didn't vote for it as I hate setting myself up for failure. I can't quite figure out why people voted for it...

We'll see how it goes.

I figured out my save issue. RegalSin was absolutely correct.

Even though it never told me I was out of space, and even though it made a nice chiming noise that seemed to confirm my saving was taking place, it just wasn't saving. I deleted my internal memory and now it saves perfectly. It still has the same file with the same name in my memory manager, but now it actually works.

Made some progress tonight. My dude is a lot tougher, I seem to have a slime for a friend. I think I'm supposed to take him to meet somebody, but I've taken him to everyone I can find.

I've cleared out the dungeon in the NW corner as much as I can, but I can't get into the door where I assume the boss is at.

Once, when leaving the cave, something bum rushed me an took off. I have no idea what it was. This was after an event was triggered in the cave where those eight barrels are.

The dude in the woods won't let me into his house. There is a little girl in a town who also won't let me in.

You'll figure out when you make it to the final "action" stage. You will cry with happiness in front of such an OMG-Obey-PCE-it's-so-beautiful level.

No, we don't doubt the game's greatness, we (Zeta, myself & others) just thought it might be better to start with a simpler game :)
