Using white PCE with NA TG-16 hook-ups possible?
« on: February 08, 2012, 02:28:19 PM »
Sorry if this information is already here somewhere, but is it possible to use a white PCE with the North American/US TG-16 RF unit and AC adapter? A few people have asked me this and I just don't know.

The voltage and plug size are different. The core grafx needs 9v and tg16 uses 10v. The RF doeasn't matter but the output channel is different then us TV, its on like 94 or something.

Don't fry your systems because you didn't wanna track down a power adapter! Make sure you look at the bottom and read the power requirements. Id rather pay for a $15 power supply that is correct then ruin a $150 system

Using a JP console in the US over RF means you'll be using a channel other than 3. Someone mentioned 96 but this is by no means certain. I had one show up on like channel 38, 98, 99.... You'll just have  to play around. It depends on the TV.

The TG-16 power supply puts out enough amperage to power the PCE and the polarity is the same, so it should be fine. The 1 volt difference isn't that significant as the voltage regulator inside both systems steps it down to 5V regardless.

and then I go "yeah I remember playing that 2 days ago because I still have my SNES, retard"

OK thanks! Some people are asking for loose white PCEs and wondering if they work with the US power supply/RF unit. I don't have any TG16 stuff with me now so I can't test it.

Why do you want to use RF in the first place? The 80's just called, and they want their video input standard back.

White PCEs only have RF out.

Didn't suggest anything to the contrary.

Yeah. Really. Wasted so much money on a stupid Turbo Booster Plus only to trade in for the Duo soon after.

That's MOSTLY true, but not technically true. You can still hack a standard A/V cable to pull composite off the expansion port in under 10 minutes.

Ah, that's a great idea! I didn't know those things had composite out.
