Depends on the games really.  I've tried to make it so that I have not yet had to spend over $150 for any single game except for a few(like 3) in my collection (this is not just Turbobs though), the number that go over ($70) is small enough that I can still count them with my fingers, since I'll balk at anything over that and really evaluate if I want it.

Now, that's not to say that I wouldn't pay a high amount, but the games quality (1st) and it's rarity (2nd) definitely factor into the decision, plus the ability to resell it if I need to or don't really like it.  There are certain games I really want, but just can't drop the cash on because of the current market value.  For example I'd love to get a copy of Panzer Dragoon Saga in mint condition for sub-$200 but I've yet to find one so far :/

I don't think that depends on me. Besides the little money amount I have to spend in games, consoles, etc. I have to wait an affordable price on EBAY.which it's the only place where I can buy them.
I know. It sucks being on a tight budget.
Not really, it's the better way to see where you put your money.

Right now I'd say the most I'd pay is $200 for Bazaru de Gozaru...

Yeah, thats about the only game I'd pay that kind of money for. The most I've ever payed for any game was Wonder Project J2 for N64, which was $130 new. These days I buy stuff for waaaay less. Usually less than $15 per game.

I would pay $70 or so for Kazi Kiri, if I could actually get it for that price, which I can't.

I'm not paying shit for US games. To me that are derivative export-market trash. If they are language heavy I'll burn a copy, that's about all the acknowledgement they get from me.

hmm, generally speaking, it's about $50, though i seem to rarely go over $30.
that said, I've broken the $50 mark on a few games, but only one was on turbo (Drac X, Guardian Heroes, Magic Knight Rayearth, Persona 2)
pretty much, i care more about how good the game is rather than its rarity

I'm just curious, do you guys that don't want to spend more than $30 - $50 or less on Turbo/PCE games buy current generation games at full retail price? Or do you wait a few months for them to plummet?

Does anybody value Turbo/PCE games less than new current gen games?

Also for those with price limits for Turbo/PCE games, do you try to buy only the cheapest of the best games until there's nothing left on the lower end and then plan on approaching your price limits for special games or do you just buy random games at random prices within a set price range?

I haven't bought anything in a long while except for a couple games that Nectarsis was selling at a good price but, once in a while I might drop by GS and pick up some PS2 or GC stuff for no more than 10 each.
I already have a bunch of the modern stuff but, I'm bored with that.
I want to get more stuff for my Duo now and my old Lynx and 7800.
I don't see going over 30 for just one game unless it's super rare or MIB.

Last year I bought Turismo 5 and KOF XIII for PS3, full price. I also bought Super Robot Wars Z2 Part 1 for the insane price of $90 or whatever import PSP stuff costs now. I bought Mario Galaxy for $20 after waiting f*cking forever to hit a Greatest Hits sort of price.

When PCE was new I paid $50-80 for the games, but now that almost all of them can be had for $15 I, obviously, spend much less.

And yeah, I've bought nearly all the 200 yen games I need so therefore I am spending a bit more on the "good stuff". Still need Soldier Blade, Nexzer, both Spiggens, Linda 3 etc.

I usually pick up used games from shops for around $10-$20 for Wii and 360.  For instance, I picked up Blue Dragon for 360 last weekend for $9.99.  Pretty fun little RPG.

For Turbografx, I try to stay within frugality prices. I rarely pay more than $20 for games, but if it's a great deal (Dracula X for $55), or if someone is nice enough to allow me to make a couple payments over like a 3 week span.

other shit to prioritize my money I suppose besides video games....

$20,000 for a new MIB mint-seal sealed Gold Youkai Douchuki.

Add another $30,000 if it's VGA graded 7+.

Make it an even $100,000 if it's a VGA 10.0.

If it's signed by a member of the development team, $2000 tops. What a waste of perfectly good  sealed collectible.

If it's used/open, I won't buy it for any price, because I only collect complete sets of graded sealed games.*

If I am not allowed to let anyone know that I have it, that's a deal breaker too. Otherwise, what's the point of collecting?

*The only exception I make is for rare unreleased prototypes that nobody else has, like PC Cocoron. If it's a game PCE fans would want to play and it's the only copy in existence, then I will pay any price to  have it exclusively to myself and will make sute it never gets ripprd, copied, etc as long as I live. Otherwise, what's the point of obtaining and ultra exclusive game unless I get to hold it over the heads of other people?

oh for the love of f@ck we know already.... :P

The most i have spent on tg16 games is $115 and that was for Bonk 3 for the DUO (minty complete) it actually bothered me some that i paid that much for it, so its safe to say $100 and below is my comfort zone  <<shrugs>>...but all the other high end games i traded or paid next to nothing for.... even my MC was obtain from a trade which i have mentioned many times before:.

For new gen stuff (PS3) i never pay full price, i wait and buy used, the only recent PS3 game i bought at full price was Resistance 3 as i love the series and a big fan.

That's how I felt that day when I left that parking lot with a loose Sinistron, no manual, damaged chipcase and $40.00 less in my wallet.

But, it's still nice to have it in my collection.

I bought MM3 for a little over 200.00.  I hated doing it, but I was willing.  :(  That and Beyond Shadowgate are the only two games I would have even considered for that much though...

For a second, I thought you were talking about Megaman 3 for the NES.
That would have been terrible!

Ive got 3 games i spent around 110 each for: Image Fight 2, Dracula X, and downtown nekketsu monogatari... all minty with spine. I think thats about the most im willing to spend. I would rather invest time and money into learning japanese and buying pce versions than spending hundreds for gouged US games like dynastic hero.
