But she totally appreciates old-skool arcade and console games.

Because these games were the easiest and simplest but yet rich in quailty fun ever. Especially for kids, those games have a special appeal (as they had on me when I was a kid (and look, I'm still one..lol)).

retro gaming keeps you young.

Absolutely correct!

Do you know how much fun we had when we found Zookeeper at some decrepit diner on a road trip?

AWESOME.

Damn I loved some cabs in an old restaurants/bar etc. placed in a dark corner, when you were on family trips/holidays.
It was all magic.
Remember games like xevious, ghosts'n'goblins, tutankhamun, 1942, gunsmoke, pacman, starwars etc. in that big black box.
You didn't know what was exactly inside there, but the games it brought on the screen were beyond of any godness.

Indubitably! Even Centipede was good for a few plays (ha! I like the game, but it had stiff competition).

Spy Hunter! Buck Rogers!

I miss seeing cabs in the nooks and crannies of random businesses.

My girlfriend has two adopted brothers, one 7 and one 9.  The only system they had is the Wii.  When I try to get them to play games with a controller, and not the waggle, they A.) can't figure it out and B.) have no interest in them.  I hope this is just a small sample size.

Why am I all of a sudden having flashbacks to Back to the Future 2?  "You gotta use your hands?!?  It's like a baby's toy!"

How many of you have kids that enjoy the Turbo?

My nephews love playing my multiplayer Turbobs, especially Bomberman '94, Bonk 3, and Parasol Stars.  Due to their difficulty level, they're not so keen on the shooties; damn kids these days can't handle a challenge.

My 12 year old daughter loves Monster Lair..  lol.  Its crazy watching her play it.  She gets all mad and frustrated when she dies.  My 16 year old tho, well she dont care too much for the Turbo.  I mean, she will watch me play it and all, and she likes some of the RPG games, but she prefers the newer stuff.  Her exact statement to me when I showed her the Turbo Grafx, was..  "There's nothing turbo about them graphics."   :P  Silly kid.

Well...............Step_son :-k

Who I am to talk about implusive behaviour, power of purchase, and
being mobile. If I had a kid, and they would go insane over 2d videogames, it would make my life a lot easier. Anyways that is another day.

I get sick of Dragon Ball: Kai intro song. I can't believe kids are watching that. I am assuming that is what he is watching. Has he ever seen the orginal Dragon Ball, or DBZ opening for the US?

You should see the look on my family member face, when I had an
early generation portable computer on my desk. "What is that, where you get that from, oh my gosh".

Then when I had a Apple labtop they were like "Did you stole that".

Then I show off the PCE and they were like "your PC what" "I only know Wii, and 360 is" " I thought I talked to you about this, you need to move foward, not backwards"

Then a family who actually owned a NES, and played it one time walked in and said "is that a PS3?"

Ha!

At least the 12 year old respects the Turbo.

Well If I had a kid I'd be on one of those MTV shows, but a lot of my friends get a kick out of the turbo, Splatter house, Bonk, Blazing Lazers,me and my friend Eddie actually got pretty far in dungeon explorer. I even convinced some friends to play Bomberman, they were skeptical at first when I pull a 20 year old console out, but after we started they couldn't get enough of it. We had like 6 guys and we played for hours on end.

This restores my faith in humanity.

If only I weren't being absolutely serious.

Bomberman does restore some faith, haha. The moment for me was having people try out the Saturn version in college with 8 players (10 max but I didn't have that many controllers!)

I had more requests for parties with that game...even the 'what the f*ck Sega Saturn??' naysayers.
Good fun outweighs any technological limitation.

10 player is kind of lame in Bomberman SS since you can't actually see the players very well and there is only one "wide" screen. 8 is best.

BTW, if you are that well equipped and can get people to play Saturn with you then you absolutely should get Death Tank Zwei, or at least the original Death Tank. Those games are...I hate to say it...even more fun than Bomberman SS. Seriously. Also, Guardian Heroes, of course.

I kind of like the 10 player screen in SS Bomberman. Even though there's only one screen, it's still cool.

Oh yeah, Sega Saturn. When the buildings inspector people of the building came in to seal holes. This one guy was like "what is that" and I say "It's a Sega Saturn" and they are like "I haven't seen one of those since I was a kid, oh wow". The guy was kinda amazed to see a Saturn.
