Blazing Lazers/Gunhed special weapon revealed!

I finally took the time to try to get the special 8-way vulcan weapon in Blazing Lazers.  Turns out, it's for real!  I got it by picking up nothing but pink orbs.  You have to pick up 100 of them.  You end up getting it about the middle of level 3, if you don't miss any along the way.  Here are a couple pics and the Ootake save state.  Check it out!

What does it turn into if you pick up the Fullfire ("F") powerup while you have it? Most of the weapons turn into some ultra-awesome super-form with Fullfire, I'd be curious to know what happens with this one.

I got it once but the requirements to keep it going are too hard

Good question!  I tried that out and I ended up shooting the normal (F) + (I) big exploding shots while STILL firing an 8-way vulcan.  Powerful as hell!

Wow, I didn't even know this existed. So basically you have to collect nothing but pink orbs until you get it? No other power ups whatsoever are allowed? What about bombs?

That's how I got it, yea.  I just picked up pink orbs and avoided everything else.  You might be able to pick up secondary weapons (F, M, S, H) and still get it, but i'm not sure.  I just avoided everything, even the flashing orbs.

Cool - I'm gonna have to try this some time.  I'd probably be better off with the blinking orbs though, unless that's powerful enough to give me a chance to 1LC.

Have yall ever did a code on the title screen, where you go to Stage 0?  Its a short stage, with a Mecha Monster, thats very hard to beat.

So THAT'S how it's done! I wondered about that right after I made that post in the other thread about glitches in games then, I was like "Nah. I doubt that it's that easy..." but, now FINALLY we know how it works!

Leave it to you to figure out stuff like this. Maybe you really are the ultimate TG16/PC-E fan.

I remember this trick from waaaay back in the day. I don't remember which magazine published it, but a few friends knew about it. I could never get it work though. I thought you just get to that level, then start collecting orbs (with no weapon upgrades). I didn't realize it takes up until that level to collect that many. Nice job, Fragmare

I never even heard or read about it as a trick. I just thought it was maybe part of a bonus or shooting some secret spot in level 3. It's only ever happened to me twice.
