PC-Engine CD game suggestions
« on: February 27, 2012, 11:55:49 AM »
Just got the cd unit up and running, and don't really know where to start on system card 2.0 games. don't have the 3.0 yet. any good suggestions? already have cosmic fantasy 2, spriggan, valis, buster bros, and exile. would like some shoot em ups but really anything that's fun. thanks!

reading up on terraforming, it says it's super cd. can you confirm it working on a 2.0 card?

If you like action/puzzle titles, Splash Lake is the shit. I mean that in the ironic sense, meaning the game is awesome and kicks ass. SO many levels, including the hidden item challenges. Not only that but the graphics are great and the sound effects are pretty awesome, too.

Splash Lake is a lot of fun, if you can see past the simplistic/cutesy graphics.  I'd love to get my hands on it again.  Does it have a different name for the PCE?

If you get your system region modded you can get a Japanese 3.0 card for dirt cheap and you'll be able to play way more games. Also you'll be able to play PCE hu cards as well.
I'm a big fan of Rayxanber II but it's tough!

Do what I did, expriement with differnt games.

Addams family ( and all of the halloween/Dad games ) are pretty decent  nice game. I know the whole haunted house bit is kinda bleh "kid-vid" old school but for a kid and an adult watching the film at the time, it had to be an auwsome game.

+1 on Splash Lake, especially if you've got a friend that can play along.  In addition to many of the other fine games mentioned, look for L-Dis, Vasteel, Monster Lair, Rainbow Islands (kinda pricey), and the two Sherlock Holmes games (fun enough and cheap enough to be worth a look).

Shadow of the Beast!

.... is a SuperCD game.

Well shit if it's CD games only, don't forget

Hellfire S
Legion
LDis
Zero Wing
Might and Magic I
Alzadick

and there are some other RPGs too (Astralius, Efera and Jiliora, La valeur)
