Help! Tototek Converter and Innovation Joystick Problem!
« on: March 11, 2012, 07:51:56 AM »
Hey guys, I just bought a Tototek Converter that lets me use a Playstation Controller on a PC Engine.
Here is a linkhttp://www.tototek.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=51

I also bought a Innovation Arcade Stick to use for Street Fighter and other games. This is a Playstation Stick.
Here is a linkhttp://www.amazon.com/PlayStation-2-PSX-Virtual-Arcade-Stick/dp/B002K8OKLU

So, I first tried out the joystick with the converter. On Street Fighter and all my other games, the characters did not move right, and the buttons were almost completely non-responsive. ](*,) Then, I used a PS2 Controller. Same thing.
I then used the arcade stick on a PS2 system. Worked like a charm.

If anyone has ever used these, or knows how to use a converter and stick, please let me know! :D

Try turning off 'analog' mode on the PS1/PS2 gamepads.

Please update if you find a solution. I was about to get two of those so I can play PCE with my X-arcade dual tankstick. I have bought the same Tototek converter but for Saturn & Neo geo and they work like a charm combined with the X-arcade Ps2 adapter. I figured it would be the same with the PCE converter??? Might be a defective converter...

I can't speak for the the PCE converter, but in my experience some converters do not work with digital only arcade sticks, they were designed for use with the dual shock and expects an analog input. This also means if using the Dual Shock 2 it might not work until you hit the analog button.

That being said, I have a Neo Geo Tototek converter and it didn't have any trouble with a PS1 joystick.

I think some buttons are not mapped out, on the PCE. You have to use earlier stuff I guess. I was thinking about getting one of these but I do not really like the PSX pads

I am new to pc engine gaming and I must say I do like it very much! I am used to play with joysticks in other systems, but playing with the duo r pad is not so good and my thumb is asking for help. Well I do have a playstation neo geo pad 2 that I wish I could use for the pc engine with a converter. I like it because is very thumb-friendly. It does works for ps2 and pc, ps3 with a simper converter, or with the neo geo with a tototek converter. I know that the neo geo pad 2 has the neo geo type thumb stick mapped as if it were the analog pad on a normal playstation controller. I read a review that the tototek converter does not support the analog pad but does support the thumb stick so I guess it will not work for my particular controller. Also sucks that it does not supports 6 buttons. Any suggestions on a hack or another type of converter to use with my neo pad?

I have a few of these and they work on 99% of games with the standard dpad controls, I got mine running with a dream cast arcade stick converted with seimitsu joystick and seimitsu buttons all connected to a hacked ps2 street fighter pad works fine but only 3 buttons on street fighter and 1 to swop from kicks to punches.

Did have it hacked with a cheapo ps1 pad but was getting random auto fire done my head but since I have redone it with the street fighter pad seems to work fine only games so far that have problems are tail of the monsters path moves forward when firing odd and Granada x on the mega drive just don't work and castlevania also Megadrive works but randomly ducks apart from that works perfect.

So would suggest getting one of these
http://www.amazon.com/Street-Fighter-anniversary-Controller-Playstation-2/dp/B00062W2GM you can get them on the uk store as well and just pick up a cheap matcatz stick like the wrestling ones as they go for cheap can mod it with this pad easy all common ground.

They also work fine with standard ps1 pad with no analog, I can try a few diffrent pads with mine if you want and post what works and what don't.

I have these adapters for the 3do, Sega megadrive, Snes and PCE. Sadly i dont have a PCE yet, but the others work just fine. Maybe you got a malfunctioning one. Try contacting Tototek directly.

Fyi I just tested one of these with a Interject pro pad 6 (no analogue sticks) and it worked fine. It all depends how close to spec the 3rd party controller is made to determine if it works.

The problem with some arcade sticks is they use very cheap boards, that is why on mine I have replaced with a better board and improved comparability with my arcade sticks. The PS2 pads should have worked though.
