And I was wondering if you can sanity check.  Because I can't read Japanese, the spines on the cases are rarely of use to me for identification.  At the moment, all my games are in a vertical stack.  The problem is, the optimal way to store and access CDs is usually with the spine facing out.  You also lose that great box art.

So a while back I started thinking if there was a way to make a shelving unit that could work like iTunes.  Admittedly, there are other possible solutions, but I liked the idea of tapping either side of the case to move to the next game.

I *think* this would work:

Okay, so I just knocked that together, but basically, there will be a frame to hold the case, and the top and bottom will have a groove, which holds a pin attached to two arms.  Also, I want small magnets at the ends of the case to perform a springy "snap" kind of action.

As far as I can see this design should work, with the "active" case being about 2/3 out from the other cases.

Am I wrong?

I just realised it doesn't work.  Like that, the case would just spin.  Back to the drawing board.

I use a regular library shelf. Just keep em out of light, and in plastics.

At one time I wanted to get a specific setup, where the shelf is collapsible. I see some retailers of speciality items, book stores, and libraries use these these all the time. They are not that expensive to get, and most construction companies sell them. But I can't find any.
I might have to travel far to get a setup like that, but these are sold everywhere on the planet.

The next thing to this, is a store display case, You can probably build one out of wood of your choice, and plexiglass. It just has to slide in and out from each end. It could also be a cabinent, that is all white, with the PCE logo. I forget the name of the material, but it is all white, but is cuttable, a type of plastic.

Hey soop!

OK, you may not be 100% pleased, but here is a compromise:

1) I have too many games for too many platforms, so I store everything efficiently and hidden away in closets.
2) But, I still like to see the media and the art.
3) So, I'll pull out a few random games I haven't played in a while (various platforms) and display them (I use stands intended to hold small picture frames). I rotate new stuff frequently to keep things fresh.
4) All items are accessible, in case I want to play.
5) I rarely display "holy grail" games, because I like quirky/oddball stuff AND I want to see stuff that I'm not as familiar with.
6) I often end up playing most of the games on "exhibition", so it is a fun way to play games that might not otherwise be played.

Yeah, that's a good solution.  I really wanted this large see-through pocket thing to hang over a door, that you can put the sleeves and games into, but they seem to be out of production :(

I'd be exactly the same.  Good artwork, like Wallaby!! Over good games with bad art!

You should buy one of those motorized clothes racks from a dry-cleaning shop. ;)
Games I Need: Bonk 3 (HuCard), Legend of Hero Tonma, Magical Chase, Soldier Blade, Super Air Zonk.

Got one to sell? PM me!

I know, I remember that thread with the vinyl display thingie! It looked interesting. Even a variation of that item would be interesting to use as a "currently playing" storage/display case. I'm sure we could find an equivalent product somewhere.
