well maybe I should have stuck with an arcade card duo after all.
The arcade card pro that i just received has some crazy ass behavior. It stays stuck loading sapphire forever (friends arcade card pro from his pc engine worked fine!) and when it does load it skips to a stage demo screen where it then just permanently crashes. fun stuff :(

I had a defective arcade card pro once as well.  It would boot to the cdrom bios, but when you'd try and load a game it would hang.  Not sure what the problem was with it.  Ended up sending it back to the seller (hit japan) for a refund.

haha same seller in my case actually.

EDIT: wait a minute. was the "arcade card pro" label faded as well?

doubt it would be the same card, but does not hurt to ask

Really?  REALLY????  The one I got had a pretty faded label too.  More yellow than orange IIRC... I wouldn't doubt its the same cart.  I have to admit I was quite peeved when they asked me to ship it back for a refund...  They should have just refunded me and not had me ship it back.  I think I paid $24 shipped for it, and it cost $5 or so to send it back.  Sounds like they got it back and sent it to the next unsuspecting buyer.

actually yes its more yellow than orange... :( THIS SUCKS. I told them that I would not bother to ship it if they didnt have a replacement. Guess I will be wary to purchase from them next time.

NOTE: its slightly more yellow in tone (just a bit) than what the camera shows but its pretty close. My camera is pretty crappy but it should show if it is close enough.

kakutolives, how about taking a couple pictures and share them with BlueBMW for confirmation? It may not be possible to say 100%, but if it really looks the same, then I think a lot of people would like to know. Selling defective merchandise is unacceptable.

EDIT: I just saw your edit. Anyway, BlueBMW, what do you say?

Heh, hilarious.

To be fair to HJ it should be said that there are literally millions of people on eBay too stupid to clean a cart slot. Hit Japan certainly should have tested it, but if I had to guess without testing it I would probably assume the buyer was just too stupid to clean his cart slot. Dead HuCards are quite rare after all.

If we see it on eBay again though, after two people have returned it...that would be kind of lame.

I told HJ that I would keep it. at this rate it might be the better idea. I rather the cycle end with me (it sucks but meh)

Hit Japan are actually awesome though.  I wouldn't hesitate to buy from them again, it's the first I've heard of anything less that perfect service from them.

Also, I will say that my Arcade Duo does take a lot of shifting around to get working.  Try poking it in just enough, not as far as it will go.  It does make a difference for some reason.

I cant remember if I took pics of the one I received but that looks exactly like it.  I hadnt seen one faded like that before.   It certainly didnt look like the picture in the auction I had won.  In hit japans defense, they probably did test it, but they probably just turned it on and it will load the bios screen fine.  Its when you try and load a game that it fails / hangs.  I tried polishing the hucard's contacts and I tried it in multiple systems.  No luck on any.

Wow, if they sent out the same defective card twice, that's pretty bad. I mean, I can see having a defective card slip by when you deal with so much inventory as they must. But if they get something like that back you'd think they'd test it out at least and toss it if is was bad. And to make you pay the return shipping as well?  :?
