need help w/ Shadow of the Beast
« on: November 05, 2005, 10:41:53 PM »
I just got this game and i'm loving the music and graphics but it looks like i've gotten stuck already. I've gotten the wrench and the gun and killed the first boss but I can't find the key to the door behind him. I've searched all over the castle and around outside using that code where you can go through walls but I can't seem to find it. Can anyone help?

Oh man that game was great, I beat that sucker on my first try on the Duo cause I had been playing the ultra hard Genesis version for weeks before I got it.  Are you sure you're not missing something obvious?  I remember the keys were right out in the open mostly.  Maybe I'll hook my duo up tonight and run through it again.

Adding PCE console specific layer on top of that, makes for an interesting challenge (no, not a reference to Ys II).

Dude, I spent months playing the Genny version. At the time it came out, it was able to claim that it was the largest genny cart out there... 12 megs (???) whatever that means. Pretty crazy.

But the genny version was tough -- I still intend to beat it one of these days, though.

I think it's nearly impossible to beat the genesis one because of the badly programmed collision detection.  Half your arm could go through an enemy and the hit wouldn't register, it was very frustrating.  The Duo version on the other hand is so generous with the collision that it makes it too easy.

And I agree on Shadow of the Beat 2, it sucks.  The yoyo thing is just retarded, and it's WAY too hard in a cheap way on any platform.  Shadow of the Beast 3 is AWESOME though, you guys need to check it out on the Amiga (I don't believe it was ever ported to anything else).

I liked SotB2, I thought it wasn't all that bad.

Never played the third though, thats kind of cool to find out though, so it WAS a trilogy.  cool!

SegaCD all around was a weak system, but Shadow of the Beast II aint all that bad.  I picked up Dungeon Master II also for SegaCD and that isnt all that bad.

I know, bad idea posting positive sega stuff on a NEC board...

You can start the Flamming.....

Dude Sega CD rules, I love it.  I have nearly every US game released for it minus the crappy sports and shit like Mortal Kombat.  It has some awesome RPGs and action games.  32X was weak as hell, but the Genesis/Sega CD combo is probably my favorite system of all time!

Yeah, just so you know, we love Sega and their consoles. I love SMS, personally, and was stoked when the Genesis came out, even though I chose the TG-16 (for Blazing Lazers). I didn't get into Sega-CD until it was discounted to the bargain bins, though.

Back in the day, I avoided all the FMV stuff. But I have to admit that recently, I've slowly been acquiring these games and checking them out as well. I would have been upset if I had paid full-price for most of these FMV games, but I'm having lots of fun with them now. Granted, my enjoyment stems from their novelty, but still... it's another facet of Sega-CD to appreciate. The WWF games will always suck, but Ground Zero Texas is amusing, IMO.

You know me, I love cheesy games, especially FMV ones, but I didn't enjoy Ground Zero Texas so much even though I admit it was pretty damn intersesting! I love Sewer Shark though.
