WTB: Arcade Card Pro
« on: April 13, 2012, 04:36:26 PM »
I just received my TurboDuo systems (thanks Keith Courage and Hoobs88) and now I am looking to play Sapphire and of course I cannot due to the fact that I'm a newb at Turbo and in need of an Arcade Card Pro. If anybody out there has one for fair price then please PM me. Thanks!

I can see your newbness showing. :)

Do you have a region modded Turboduo? The Arcade Cards are for the Japanese PC Engine systems. HuCards/Turbochips are not region free. The only way you can use an Arcade Card on a Turboduo (or TG-16 w/CD) is if the console is region-modded or you have a converter.

Also, if you are using this on a Duo, you can use either an Arcade Card Duo or an Arcade Card Pro. The Duo card only works on the Duo and Super CD-ROM2, while the Pro works on every TG/PCE CD console. The Duo card is quite a bit cheap. So, if you are just using this on a Duo, then save some money and get an Arcade Card Duo card.

Hopefully that made sense.

I have a US model Duo but it's not region modded, yet. I am in the process of getting that done. Is there any significant difference in capabilities between the cards? I would like to play Sapphire and I figured if I'm going to get an Arcade Card it would be best to just go for the best that way I wouldn't come up short later down the road, if that's at all possible.

If you think of the cards like elevators, the arcade pro brings you from the hu card to ACD level while the arcade duo card brings you from SCD to ACD level. Since the arcade pro has more distance to cover, it is more expensive but either/both will work in a Turbo Duo.

Get the Arcade Card Duo.  You only need the Pro if you dont have the Duo system.

If you can be a bit patient, I'm pretty sure someone here will come up with one for you.

And to re-illiterate:

Arcade Card Pro: brings up all consoles to ACD.
Arcade Card Duo: only brings up the Duo systems and Super CD-ROM2 add-on (the piggy-back add-on in Japan) to ACD.
