E.D.F. Earth Defense Force (Arcade Stage 4)

SFC/SNES version is a little more with the slap bass

Ridge Racer 6 Valley of the Mind (as close as it will ever get to original Ridge Racer music without being a remix) great track!

Parappa the Rapper (Instructor Mooselini's RAP) so great when you screw up.

Elevator Action Returns (my favorite Taito F3 game next to Layer section)

Shinobi III Whirlwind (jet board stage)

City Hunter PC-Engine

Gate of Thunder Stage 5 (my personal favorite.  fact that so many people have other tracks as their favorites just shows how awesome this game's music is)

Plok?  PLOK??? The main theme is pretty impressive sounding but that's really the only good tune in the game. And the tune isn't even very good, it just has good sound quality. The impressiveness goes away once the cheesy SNES electric guitars start, though. Also, horrid game. Super Adventure Island impresses me more because I actually want to listen to it.

Lol, didn't even see this post for over a month. So the main theme is the only one good tune in that game? lol!

Then lissen to the beach:

or acrylic:

These are two absolue killer tunez on the SFC/SNES and I consider them something of the best the snes could ever let out acoustically.

Even when Shigeru Miyamoto first heard Plok's theme song, he couldn't believe it was coming out of a regular SNES. I literally blew him out of his socks.

Lol Plok.  Now this is where it's at.

Completely incomparable stuff. Plok is class of its own.

Plok is high quality, but it's just not something I really enjoy listening to.  It's just technically impressive and nothing more.  It's essentially the Lindsey Lohan of the retro world.  Sure it's technically amazing how she's managed to keep herself in the public eye.  But nobody wants to go down on that thing.

but it's just not something I really enjoy listening to.

This point is arguable and in matter of fact, depends on eachs own taste of music.
F.e. You love Pink, and I can't stand it, but that doesn't automatically mean that it's bad music.
Same here, beside the high quality and technically impressive stuff in the front, I also love and very much appreciate Follins compositions behind it.

Yeah Tats those Plok tunes aren't very good. Like Superdeadite said, they're somewhat impressive technically but the music itself is just pure shit. I have all of the Plok tracks to listen to on my SNES at any time and have heard them all. The beach tune takes a minute to even get going. That's a pet peeve of mine, music that takes forever to even start. Have you actually played the game Plok? Damn, it's pure shit and that horrible first level music (which actually plays for the first several levels) doesn't help it at all.

So while it may be impressive technically, without actual good music it's worthless. I'd love to hear good music with this kind of sound quality. I'd rather listen to Super Castlevania 4. Or F-Zero. Or even Donkey Kong Country. Each have much better music with less sound quality. Tom Folin would serve better as a sound engineer than a musician. He's great with sound quality and can write really good sound engines, but as a musician he's hit or miss in my opinion. He's definitely overrated. People go apeshit over his TimeTrax Genesis track like it's the best song/sound quality on the Genesis or something. It's neither, not even close. It's good music but not balls to the wall amazing like the rest of the internet would have you believe.

As I just stated above, music taste is very arguable. For some (inlcuding you and dead) it is plain shit, other like me appreciate it very much. It's nothing to discuss any further.

I really liked those tunes.  Prog-rock-y goodness coming out of a SNES!  I've never even heard of the game, though.

I've been playing a lot of Dragon Spirit on PC-Engine and arcade this past week.  I really love the music in this game.  I have played it many years ago, but coming back to it has been quite nice.

Fravorite track is Area 2 Volcano.

pc-engine version (i actually might like it better)

Needless to say, but:
(A) I agree about Dragon Spirit
(B) the PCE tunes rival the arcade (I prefer PCE)
(C)
(D) Now you're playing with power.

Tim Follin's tunes are nice, but it slices no bread against Chris Huelsbeck's best work-
