It is, but the arpeggios in the melodies sort of compensate for the few sound channels on the Game Gear, producing a fuller-sounding melody.  You see that trick a lot in 8-bit chiptunes (the good ones, anyway )

Dune 2 Battle Theme - One of my favorite games as a kid (I was a Dos gamer) and this theme always got me excited.  This video sounds pretty close to what my Dos machine sounds like.  It depends on your sound card.  I use a basic SB16/AWE32 card.

Holy hell I had no idea the music in Plok was so good!  It kinda sound like the guy that did the SNES The Amazing Spiderman and Xmen game.  Good stuff!  Now I must buy this game.
