The PS1 adapter arrived today so I'm hoping to get an emulator and some ROMS installed this evening to test out.  I haven't really followed the emulation scene.  Is there one particular emulator that stands out?

I can't remember what it's called, but I always liked the one made by Mr Kipling and Jamsponge

Well I've downloaded Ootake version 2.65 and so far it seems pretty easy to use.  I wish the record function recorded to .avi or .mp4.  I'm trying to find a good screen capture program to record the videos now...

PCEjin has inaccurate volume levels but is otherwise pretty good. You can record and then, on replay, encode to AVI. BizHawk does this as well and has correct audio levels, but has more problems with desyncing on replay.

I would like to suggest one of these:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Adaptec-GAMEBRIDGE-AVC-1410-USB-to-AV-/251049093098?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3a73b127ea

I had no problems capturing while playing through it. although I dont know how well it might perform on a netbook (I also believe the drivers only work on xp no vista or windows 7 support :( )
Good Sellers (in my experience)
Samurai Ghost, Keith Courage, Bernie, tggodfrey, bartre (hoping to add more to this list soon)

People who are just plain Awesome:
BlueBMW (to this day i thank you for hooking me up with Sapphire and getting me started with collecting PCE games)

I would like to try a Framemeister for game footage capture. .........  Also wondering if the Framemeister has that stupid HDMI flag which prevents you from recording the signal like the PS3 does but the Xbox 360 does not.

In addition to what SuperDeadite said, you can also just mod the RGB to mini-din8 adapter that comes with it.

About the HDMI recording flag, no, it doesn't have one. If you're feeding HDMI input into it though, it will keep the flag if the original signal has it. For what you want to do with it though it would be fine.

The Framemeister has honestly been the best addition to my game collection I've made in the last 10 years. If you guys have the means, I can't recommend one enough.

Unless you are like me and have no displays that take HDMI.  :)  Only other thing is the Framemeister isn't so good for arcade pcb usage.  But I doubt that affects too many people here.

Thanks for the link.  Yeah, I doubt the netbook (1.6ghz Atom processor) would be able to keep up.  It's too bad, because it has Windows XP installed, while my main computer has Windows 7.

For the time being, I'm going to continue tinkering with using emulation to record videos as I think once I get the process down, it'll be the simplest.  There's just something that feels wrong about using emulation when I've got perfectly good systems and actual games right next to me. :D

That's because of the wonky, non-standard frequencies of arcade boards.  Arcade games are really tough to record.  I'l keep my eye out for a Framemeister.  $400+ is a but much, not sure how that price is arrived at.  I'd pay $150 for sure.  Damn it, why doesn't Micomsoft have a US office?  They could sell their stuff as there's no rule it has to be used for videogames.

The Framemeister retails from Micomsoft directly for 38,640yen.  Which is about $482.50 by today's rates.  I think Amazon sells them a bit cheaper, but these have only been out for a few months, nobody is really selling them used yet.

It seems like the normal going price is 32,800yen, as I've seen a few places selling it for that exact price. Either way, yeah, it's expensive for people in the US right now.
