Man, I'd love to see some pics of the video games section of TRU from back then.  I used to spend a LOT of time there...

What I wouldn't give for a time machine and a credit card that worked in 1985 (or whenever that was.)

At one point in time. They used to have the systems inside glass cases, when the snes came out, the play kiosks were available. Then I remember the video only kiosks that had the catalogs.

I also remember Sega had a huge event in toronto in 89. Nothing but themed genesis play areas. I was in hog heaven. Mystic defender and forgotten worlds! Lol

Ah, I will forever drool over that dark grey Astrotrain, since the released version was white.  They did eventually release the grey one fairly recently(seeing as how that's the color he is in the show), but it's too pricey.  I got the re-issue released in the US, but it's the white one, with black replacing the purple.

I believe Takara is releasing(or already has?) a re-issue Devastator, I hope Hasbro brings it over here someday.  I actually have a complete Devastator...but that's by using the few I have from G1 & the few I have from G2....so it's a mix of green, yellow, & 2 different shades of purple! :P

I can't for the life of me place what bot that is in the top left hand corner.  The box in general looks off from what I remeber of TF's boxes BITD, & it doesn't look like it has a window to see the toy.  I think it's a Decepticon(looks like purple in the name), but I don't recognize him.  It almost looks like a puzzle box, would there be TF puzzles in the action figure section?  In any case, I can easily identify the rest.  From left to right, top shelf you got Megs, & Metroplex(or is it Metropli, for the plura?), next is Dirge, some Onslaughts, & Ultra Magnus.  Next is Warpath, Seaspray, Wheelie, Tail Pipe, Runamuck, & Runabout.  Next is some random robot stuff I don't recogize aside from the Bug Bots stuff, & then First Aid of the Protectobots.  The next row I can't quite place, but they look familiar.  Then the last row is some Robo Machine stuff(which I believe some or all of the Go-bots were based on), & then Jetfire!

He-Man and Real Ghost Busters were awesome when I was a kid.

Never cared for GI Joe at all, because the small figures looked like pansies.  Transformers were and are just lame.

Takara has as a encore but it's realy pricey if hasbro ever brought it over i'd buy it to start a transformers collection.

I've looked for a pic of the video game aisle in ToysRUs back when Turbo was being sold.  I've yet to find one anywhere.

The local stores displayed all of the system's games on a wall with just the front and back cover similar to the cards in the display that Thibaut is selling (Nando posted above).  You took a price paper up to the cashier to actually buy the game, but the wall of cards was a special sight.

Some of the hardware was on a shelf at the bottom of the aisle.  I guess if it was too big to shoplift, they would put it in the store.
Wanted:
Bootleg Hucards (Hong Kong, China)
Third Party Hardware (US, Japan, China, Europe, Korea)
Canadian Boxes and Manuals (French text)
Ton's of Trades available - just PM me.

If you aren't the sort of person that buys truckloads of bullshit modern TFs the import stuff isn't that expensive, really. It only seems expensive compared to the much more affordable stuff from Beast Wars, the new movies, etc, but that shit is f*cking garbage so really they are a rip-off at any price. Would you rather have a Masterpiece Convoy or five PAINFULLY uninspired "movie era" TFs that all look identical because they are made from the same bland grey plastic? Which will you be more happy with in five years?

And really, does it matter if they bring it out "over here" anyway? You're going to buy it from the internet anyway. Regions are meaningless. Besides, the Japanese releases have way better packaging most of the time.

I think that's the inflatable punching bag.

Also, this picture looks like 1986 to me.

Toys 'R' Us had the maze aisles back in the 80s and 90s too. My Mom used to bitch about this every time we went into the store.
