Proud Papa :D
« on: May 16, 2012, 08:20:58 AM »
Every afternoon my 4 year old son has a 2 hour "rest time" in his room.  He can read, play with his toys, rest, etc.  It's some quality down time for all of us (my wife and I both primarily work at home).

This afternoon, when my wife went into his room to let him know that rest time was over, he has this elaborate setup sprawled all over his room; he'd created hills by spreading blankets of piles over stuff and chairs and had little miniatures all over the room.

He explained to Mom that he was playing Military Madness. :D :D :D  One group of characters was supposed to be "the blue tanks" and other groups were other units found in the game.

I couldn't be more proud of him.

(P.S. - I can't wait until he's old enough to play Heroscape or Battletech, both of which are currently collecting dust in my office...)

Awesome! My teenage daughter used to play turbo games with me when she was little. Now she won't even give me a time of the day. Trying again with my other two younger daughters. Man, I wish I had a son.
Turbo fan since 1991 after owning my first system.

I wish I had taken pics before we cleaned it up.  Even after "rest time" ended I could hear him playing Military Madness in his room for a good half hour.  He was shouting and making explosion sounds and really getting into it.  Hopefully he'll want to play it again tomorrow.  If so I'll take pics. :)

This all probably came about because I picked up Neo Nectaris (PCE) and Nectaris for the Playstation 1 within the past week or two and have been playing them and the original a lot lately.  And he really enjoyed watching them!  He asked so many questions.  It's a good thing these games pretty much have the manual built in. :)

Now THAT's impressive.  My lil doesn't play any games yet - he just likes to watch me play them.  And then he acts them out later.  :P
