Alien Soldier
« on: May 19, 2012, 10:59:10 AM »
So, it has recently come to my attention that Alien Soldier was originally developed for the PC Engine. Why it was switched to the Mega Drive... well, I can only imagine how much Sega paid of Sega to get it as a Mega Drive exclusive. If only...

I'm not surprised that they dumped it on Mega Drive, since it had poor color quality for a PC Engine game.

That's true. It just would have made the PC Engine look like less of a powerhouse. Definitely a good move to keep it on the MD.

No way, Alien Soldier was in every way made from the Gunstar Heroes mold. Besides Treasure loved the Mega Drive back in those days, they made a bunch of title for the platform.

Did they even ever make a single PCE title?

They might have worked on some of the Konami PCE games.

Yeah, before they left Konami.  I like how the article says Sega is making it.  Sounds like whatever mag that is got their system logos mixed up.

But I agree, alien Soldier is far too wimpy for the PC Engine powerhouse.  Nobody would have bought it because how primitive it was.  I'd rather have something that shows off what the system can do, like Ordyne.

Love your deadpan humour.  Firebomber7 took a scan and sloppily bunged in the PC-E text and logo by himself as a practical joke.

I need to bite the bullet and buy a copy of Alien Soldier one of these days.

Though 150-200 is a tall order if anything a treasure game would be well deserving.

My favorite part is at the end of the article where it says "...the most explosive sprites ever to grace the PC Engine" with "PC Engine" looking like it had been cut out from another magazine by someone who makes ransom notes.
