Cheapest good HuCards to track down
« on: May 20, 2012, 07:08:30 PM »
So, my HuCard collection is still rather tiny. Which HuCard games are cheap, easy to find, and good, and are nice low-hanging fruit for someone starting at the bottom?

Thanks, guys!

I initially wrote this up thinking it was for the TG-16 but then realized it was posted in the PCE section, so I'm hoping my suggestions are still relevant.  Anyways, here are some of the more TG-16 HuCards that I believe are pretty common and shouldn't fetch a very high price - just substitute the PCE name :D:

Blazing Lazers
Ninja Spirit
Military Madness
Final Lap Twin
Bonk's Adventure
Bonk's Revenge
Dragon Spirit
Alien Crush
Devil's Crush
Galaga 90
Any of the Bomberman games (though I found '93/'94 much better than the original)
And since this is posted in the PCE section I'll mention Final Soldier.  It's arguably the least expensive of the Soldier series and probably my favorite because I'm not hardcore about shmups, though I love playing them.

Those are the HuCards I can list off the top of my head that everyone with an NEC system ought to try.  I may add more tomorrow when I can look at the HuCards I have. :)

Assuming you are talking about Japanese HuCards, not US ones (because it's a totally different topic), here are some cheap ones I've gotten:

Dungeon Explorer
Aoi Blink
Bomberman (any version)
Neutopia
Nectaris (AKA Military Madness)

All of these I got complete for 500 Yen or less. Maybe Dungeon Explorer was 600.

What's your boundary for "expensive"? Are you looking for complete games or lone Hucards?

I for one would be interested to know more about which GOOD Japanese HuCards can had incomplete for less than 1000 Yen.

Indeed, HuCard only is fine as far as I'm concerned, and I'd say 1000 en is a reasonable limit per title. Best of the bargain basement.

Yeesh, I just corrected a few errors in my previous post. It's been a long night...  When I originally said Final Blaster, I meant Final Soldier.  Final Blaster looks cool, but I've never played it.  Sorry.

The trouble is, getting a HuCard only can be fairly difficult just because complete games are more common.

Super Star Soldier, for example, may be less than 1000 incomplete, but it's most likely going to set you back 1500-2000 complete.

By the way, roflmao, you've got a great list there, but just FYI, the Japanese Bonk HuCards usually aren't so cheap. Complete ones seem to be around 2500-3000 yen. I think it'd be pretty lucky to get the card for 1000 or less.

Anyway, today I picked up P-47 from my local game shop, complete in fairly used condition, for 525 yen. It's decent enough.

I agree - but to be fair, the 1000 yen limit was set after his post.  I think all the ones I mentioned are well into that zone.

Yeah, it's all good. :)

There are actually quite a few good games that are in the 1000-2000 yen range complete, and therefore probably 1000 or below as lone hucards. Gunhed/Blazing Lazers springs to mind. Jackie Chan is another.

There are only a handful of games in my experience that are a _lot_ more expensive complete than loose.  And I have no idea why.  But some of them are the ones I have loose that I'm dreading buying again just for the case...  Parasol Stars is one.

Thanks for letting me know.  I would have thought it would be one of the more common titles, therefore, relatively cheap.

It probably also depends on where you shop.
