I did some reading in various threads here on the forums regarding this type of cable, and would just like anyone to confirm this is the right cable for the controllers on the PC Engine.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/290665598543?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

It does say in the auction listing, that it wont work as "an Image II Apple printer cable". Is that relevant to have it working as an extension cable for any kind of PC Engine controller?

If its the wrong one, could someone please point out a correct one? Ive look at some sites, including monoprice, which were mentioned in other threads on this forum, but they are all asking like $30+ to ship the cable to Sweden. I cant really pay that much for such a cheap item. If anyone has such a cheap cable (or preferably two) and willing to sell and ship cheap via USPS, please let me know.

Thanks and regards,
grimm

Hey Grimm.  No, that's not the right one - you want an extension, which is male > female.  IIRC, the standard "printer cable" is male > male or something.

I had the same problem, they're dirt cheap in America, but they all want an arm and a leg for shipping.  In the end I went for one on eBay for about £8.  FYI, there's about a gillion different things you can search too, I think there's a big thread in the TG-16 sub-forum

EDIT: Augh. In the time it took for me to write this, soop beat me to it. With a proper answer to boot :P

*Viking high-five*
With that out the way, it's essentially a Mini din 8-pin cable, as far as I understand. And as such, you should be able to get one even around here. I haven't seen Kjell & Co carrying them but after a quick search I found this.
Maybe there is a better place to buy this kind of stuff.

Take a look on eBay or Amazon otherwise. UK of course, since the shipping will be cheaper.

If that's not it, I hope someone more tech-savvy can help us out :p
CHECKPOINT!
There is a perverted Japanese businessman in every Swiss PCE fan.

That's the one!  That will work.  But it won't look as good as a black one.  I'm so picky!

Hey Grimm.  No, that's not the right one - you want an extension, which is male > female.  IIRC, the standard "printer cable" is male > male or something.

Yes, but i think you misread. The qoute says it does NOT work as a printer cable, not that it DOES. I edited in the auction which i forgot to add, and yes it is a female/male cable. Sorry for the confusion.

Good to know its the right cable, and yes, it wont be as nice as a black one, but it will work, and untill i find a black one at an acceptable price it will have to do! Thanks for the confirmation!

Edit: Could someone let me know how long the standard controller cable is? i wanna measure and see if i can get away with one 6ft cable or if i need two.. i think just one might be too short for comfort.
