I didn't get to make the video this weekend.

I forgot I had a busy weekend of crap planned, and by the time I got around to it, the video grabby software pissed me off.

Yeah.  I know.  It looked really stupid when they scrolled too, because you'd be flying around too much to properly enjoy them, so I made them just stay always on screen, so you can always enjoy the bubbles.

Lookin' sexy, except for the laggy paralax sprite overlaps.

(1) Hell yes, I enjoyed the bubbles.

(2) The tune is nice.

And now for something new...

(3) I love the Atlantean Babies, especially how they will fall to the ocean floor and EXPLODE if they can't be saved.

(4) When Atlantean Babies are saved (by placing them tenderly on ocean floor), I'll be happy if there is a pleasant (subtle!) sound to indicate that the baby is safe (for the meantime). Actually, in general, I think most repetitive sound effects should be subtle (muffled) to prevent them from becoming grating. My two cents on the soundscape .

So far, Atlantean is WONDERFUL.

I get that on every PCE game when I video grab from an emulator, it's really odd. It doesn't look as bad as that in the real thing.

That problem magically goes away during the late-stage optimization.  It's doing that right now because of HuC's awesome array accessing skills.

I save this for last since once you do it, it becomes way harder to debug/deal with.

I think I am going to envelope the abduction-ray sound a bit so it isn't as spastic.

I like the mutate noise, and the enemy shot came out good.  It's got a nice bullet sound.  It's very Konami sounding, to me.

and yes, there will be a little soft chimey sound when the Atlanteans touch down.   I love that they explode into oblivion when they die.   Everything in the 80s explodes when it dies.  There is no other way.

It's fleshing out quite nicely.   There are a few hangups with the shots, but it's nothing I can't tweak til I like it. :)

I think it would be funny if the Atlanteans went splat when falling from too high a height. Then again, I'm easily amused by things that go splat.

They wouldn't go splat. They are underwater.
