The sky in A draws your eye into the picture. The sky in B draws your eye out of it.
I voted A for this same reason.

Keep it fairly simple, don't try to draw lots of detail. Cover up any plain areas with a few rocks, flowers or far implements perhaps - that would help fill it out by having extra shadows as well. Have a look through some PCE scenes, I'm sure there must be plenty of grass you can use as reference.

I like the door ways in particular, and still really think the color choices are excellent for the sky transition.

reminds me of some f*ckin Windows 3.1 era wallpapers or something, in a good way.  :D

I gotta give total Props to Paul on the doors, I am using his resources from the game and just altering them a little bit to fit my needs and keep things consistent.

Actually, the colors in the sky make me think a lil' bit of Loom, of which I consider that a good thing!

It looks like there is a lava flow in the background... not sure that it was intentional but it looks cool!
