oh, and I hate this guy

He is the bane of my existence.  I want to scream at my computer just looking at that picture.  The game really isn't very hard until he shows up.  And it's not too bad for at least a few levels after getting past him.  But man he's tough!

Thanks for posting that picture.  Now I feel like kicking a kitten or something. :)

This is why I use sound receivers for everything. I cannot go back to TV speakers ever again. LOL at 15-25 watts with 3.5" speakers at best. Got me a $400 on sale for $250 2008 model Yamaha 5.1 DDS/DTS receiver with 600 watts that gets the job done.

It is even loud enough to fully enjoy surround sound movies and current generation systems. You really don't need anything bigger (moar power) for even a medium-large sized living room. I will eventually put it in my bedroom with my 27" Sony Trinitron and buy a HD Surround Sound receiver when I get a HD Sony 46" LCD soon. I have been putting off a dedicated current HD setup. I have been using a 36" Toshiba HD CRT in my living room for the past 3 years, lol. It doesn't do Blu-Ray and 720p/1080p HD consoles justice, but it is a good CRT for 480i/p DVD/consoles and 1080i (HD Cable) though.

He's a pretty cool challenge. Sometimes I can handle him perfectly, other times I choke and it all goes to hell, the mark of a good shooter! ;)

Yeah my hatred for him is a bit tongue in cheek. I don't breath at all when fighting him :) That edge of the seat "holy shit" feeling is why shmups are so awesome.

Another game I noticed with audio being low, is Tale Spin..  I thought my system was acting up, but other games sound fine.

strange maybe there is more of them.

i always found the music on the cd games a bit low could just be me wanting to here the music more than the sound effects.

In general, it's a quiet system - that's why the CD audio in most turbo CD games is at a lower volume level than most audio CDs, so that the music doesn't drown out the sound effects.

Some games like Super Star Soldier and Talespin are especially quiet though.
