I don't know who started this rumor, but it's 100% false. The new Sapphire's are pressed, just like the old ones.

+1.

They are still pressed, and the latest batch has some minor colour corrections. I coughed up $40 for my copy, including delivery, and am completely happy with the quality of the product. I mean he reproduced everything, the cover, manual, registration card, all the way down to the spine card and having the game on a pressed CD is a nice bonus. This price also included an additional loose CD which was great as I was able to pass this on to a friend.

When I contacted him, he made no attempt to pass it off as a real copy and was quite clear in describing it as a boot.

Blue bought a heap of loose CD's which were misprints (the colour was wrong - also why they were cheaper than usual) but other batches have been made since then, so not sure why everyone just assumes they're now CD-R's.

In any event, spending $40 suited me much more than spending $400 on the real thing, I just wanted to play the game.

I think people are assuming they are CD-Rs because everything else the guy sells now is. Why are the Sapphires pressed but not the SFZ or Megaman? We had assumed Care4Data had lost the wisdom to press PCE CDs, like so many other facilities.

My guess is that these are still copies left over from the previous batch.
