The Beast is an auwsome game, why not? I was listening to the music for a long time, before I even knew about the game. It would be so cool if their was a beast game, like MadMax4: Beyond thunder thighs. However they already made a "beast" game, it is called bioshock. That is as best as I could think of, in terms of "The beast".

beast was the ultimate parallax tech-demo on the amiga back then. the music was very nice as well, tho the pce red book kicks it of the throne in every aspects.

the pce really plays better, but is a huge downgrade graphic wise (especially the undergound and castle level BGs).

I really need to beat this game. I've loved SotB since I was a kid, but it was way too difficult for me when I rented it back in the day (especially the sped up Genesis version). I later got the JP Mega Drive version which plays at the proper speed but still found it too difficult with the crappy hit detection. The PCE version plays and sounds much better, and even has more graphical details than the MD version, but while I've progressed a lot further than on the Sega versions I never did actually beat it. I don't like using walk-throughs for games like this but do you guys have any hints for certain parts of the game that would save me some grief? The lack of continues makes me give up every time I get a bit further.

There are no hints really.   The game is straightforward.

where do you get to when you die.

Yeah I know, basically just progress through... I've been raped by a few bosses though. Can't really remember how far I've gotten as some of the levels blend together in my mind. I just need to set aside an evening and play through it really! I'm just wondering if there's something tricky that happens later in the game that I need to know about to beat/avoid so I don't just give up again.

not really.  Just don't run into shit.

One thing people do that f*cks them up is they try running through the game like Rambo.

That ain't gonna work.

it also amazes me how many time all the BGs and stuff got COMPLETELY redrawn for this only one game. Even for teh same system (but two regions).
