Since I now safely have a copy again (never should have sold it) I can recommend the incredibly shallow but wonderfully original Astra Superstars without worrying about the price going up even more:

I have. It's very rough, but very original. I'd recommend Mr. Bones over SCUD in the "weird American Saturn game" catagory.

The Mr.Bones game looks really interesting, like a bunch of action and mini games. Thanks for the info!

Yeah, it's pretty shallow, but it's a great game to pull out to play against someone who happens to be over. Since there are no special moves to use anyone can pick it up and play it!

Nowadays they would call it a "social" fighting game.

That's probably true. It will add players in your living room. If the game were Street Fighter Zero 2...I'd just kick people's asses until they all got sick of it and left.
