Advice on finding an afforable PCE core stereo AV cable
« on: June 30, 2012, 09:46:32 AM »
Yup, cause I have just the mono cable and so I'm not getting half the audio. So I want a stereo one.

If you can find a Sega Genesis Model 1 stereo cable that should work fine. Should be around $10 shipped.

The Model 1 Genesis only had mono from the AV jack. I'd guess he's rocking a Genesis cable now if all he's getting is mono.

Yeah your right, the stereo AV cable I found seems to have been a mislabeled Model 2 cable. Are there stero neo geo cables? They should work as well.

Doesn't this just use the Duo type plug?  If so, I have a couple extras.

I purchased a bunch of midi din cables several years ago off of eBay for <$5 shipped each. They produce a better image that official Turbo/PCE AV cables. Most that I got had extra cords, which I cut off. After figuring out which cords do what, I color coded them. I used them up until I got my first s-video modified setup.

All Genesis model 1 and AES AV cables are mono.

He'll need a PCE cable. Duo ones are the same as the CG ones, so they'll do if he can find them.

In that case, care to let me take your awesome hack-job cable off your hands?  ; )

You know, exactly like that one. I gave in and got one from eBay for $8.99 with only $2.30 shipping. They appear to be homemade, but they're solid and work great. In case you are wondering, Neutopia's soundtrack is crap in MONO (sounds great in stereo - why did it take so long to notice this error?).

When I finally get some more spare change I think I'll do as BT did and pick up some flux (I have enough other soldering tools), some cheap, long stereo RCA A/V cables from Monoprice, and some MIDI/DIN-5 connectors and make a few to sell/distribute. It'd give me some soldering practice and a chance to give back affordably to the community here.

Damn. Are those fighting words? I don't recall Neutopia's soundtrack being a crappy stereo experience...

I haven't played Neutopia recently, but I'll have to give it a listen right now to see how I feel.

To be continued...

UPDATE: Well, for some reason, the Neutopia .hes file is only playing the first subtune (sound effect). Hmmmmmm.....
