I'd go Alien Crush. It's pretty much perfect for someone new to the system, and it's a timeless game. Don't be scared off by the fact that it's a pinball game.

I traded 3 NES games for a TurboGrafx-16 plus 3 games,

that my dear, was a wise trade. doesn't matter what NES games they were.

Now trade the TurboGrafx-16 for a PC Engine and get a double win.

Definitely get Blazing Lazers. It's cheap and easily found. If you like it, then there is a whole slew of games just like it for the Turbo.
