Damn the NEC/Hudson/red thought of everything. That looks like an old school portable computer, all that it is missing, is the drive input. In fact, that is all that is missing from that setup, I bet their is a way to convert to a fully working computer. I could be camping, and be like... never fear we got PCE.

What is even more funnier is how the screen display, was a fully color display, compared to the above computer, which was sold into the mid 1990's.

NEC had to create, the forsaken Supegrafx, and the rest of the Jackie Chan Gang.

The Laser Active was just a LD rom player, I am sure their are better LD roms out their? However we will have to do this by random. How many LD-rom games
was produced? In fact the same only LD-rom official game, was ported to CD and the
GBC. Then their is only one official LD-rom game system. Another cheap direction of
game design.

The LT is way cool and desirable in all kinds of ways.
The LA is also cool and desirable in a lot of way, plus LDs are fun to have. My current LD player is an industrial low-performer but I've heard the LA isn't so hot either. It's the NEC/SEGA modules that makes it tho', that is just bad ass.

Horse cock? I don't need that, it'll just end up collecting dust on a shelf anyway.
CHECKPOINT!
There is a perverted Japanese businessman in every Swiss PCE fan.

Every time I show my Laseractive to someone new, they are blown away.  Typically I have people hooked at Triad Stone, but Virtual Cameraman seems to be another favorite.

I have gotten to the point where I do all PCE, TG16, MD, and Genesis gaming on my LA, along with the LD games of course.  This versatility pushes the LA above the LT in my book.

Compared to almost every PC Engine, the laseractive looks like ass.  In my opinion.

I had a LaserActive with Sega pack for a while, but it was huge and not as accessible. So I just played Sega games on my CDX instead. If I did get an LA again, I'd still just play regular Gen/MD and Turbo/PCE games on regular setups.

LT.

If there were different software on the LA, like Dragon's Lair, Space Ace, or a copy of Time Gal that didn't cost $1000 I'd be a lot more into it.

Also, I already have three LD players that are better at playing movies than the LA is so...it wouldn't get used very much, most likely.

Speaking of LD, I recently got a very good condition LD-W1 and I'm in awe of this wonderful beast. I will be sending it to the guy at Bayview soon to have it retrofitted with AC-3 and SPDIF and TOSLINK outputs giving me one of very few machines in the world that can play straight through four sides of an LD movie with Dolby Digital/DTS sound without getting off my fat ass.

I didn't know such a player existed, or that you could have them retrofitted in that way.  Very cool!

I think you can add AC-3 to basically any LD player. I'm pretty sure that in order to add digital outputs though you need to start with a player that was compatible with digital audio discs to begin with. The LD-W1 was one of the very first that was.

I love BR, btw, but the title selection right now isn't very good in general and in my prefered genre, anime, there is almost nothing. Blueray is also about as fun to collect as mini football helmets or Jar Jar Binks figures, whereas LD is about the coolest thing to collect there is, and usually quite cheap now.

I think my current laserdisc player has AC-3 but I am just using composite out currently. :(  It plays both sides of 1 disc, so I'm pretty happy.  My wife and I just watched Mission Impossible on laserdisc the other night and it would have been nice to not have to get up to swap discs (to side 3)

I agree that collecting for laserdisc is about the coolest thing to collect (next to tg/pce).  I wish there were some places locally that sold ld stuff.  I used to live in RI and it seemed like all of the Salvation Army's out there had ld stuff.  Out here it's bone dry.
