Repairs & Modifications - Table Of Contents
« on: July 16, 2012, 07:50:39 AM »
I decided to organise the repair guides.  As a new comer, walking into the TG/PCE Repair/Mod Discussion thread was quite overwhelming.  There is a ton of great information within this section of the forum and some excellent step by step repairs/mods.  I felt that a table of contents would help organise the information so nothing is lost and maybe help alleviate some of the stickies which are starting to stack up.

If everyone like this idea I'll keep it going and add more to it.  You can suggest additions as well.  I just didn't want to waste any more effort if no one liked the concept.

You got my vote!
Would be nice to get rid of the stickies and see more threads on the first page.
Great work!

Thanks a bunch!

If you were to add a section on the PC Engine Duo R/RX, that would be great.

Yeah, this was my main goal.

If you were to add a section on the PC Engine Duo R/RX, that would be great.
Good idea.  I'm going to wait for a bit more feedback before proceeding.

Don't forget the TE LCD and composite vid out that thesteve discovered. However I don't think there is a detail instruction. If it cool with thesteve,  I can start one on the next mod I'll do but I must warn that I'm not to good with the written English language.

i think i left enough detailed instructions.
note the GT and express should be lumped, as they are the same board (TE has 1 resistor added)

Good idea.  I agree that the existing method is a bit cumbersome.

Is the intent to simply combine the various threads into common product types, or create a "shortcut to repairs" for the various products.  If the latter, do you intend to make a repair manual for each of the products?  I ask because doing that means scouring the various threads for whatever tech/repair info you can find (including any sporadic info on voltages, schematics, pot settings, et) , and compiling each piece of that data into the appropriate manual.  I suspect this is rather a large task....but good luck to you either way.

If you DO create the repair manuals, I am sure many here could help by pointing you to the various threads/posts that contain many pieces of information....I'm sure you won't have to do all the searching yourself.

If there is interest in building some comprehensive repair guides on a per hardware basis, I wouldnt mind helping out.

Okay guys, I'll take your suggestions and try to clean things up a little more.  I should have some time tomorrow.
