cool Y's actors Info

I found this from some Cosplay website forums.  People are talking about Y's in more than just turbo forums.

When you beat Ys Book I and II, you will see the voice actors in the credits.

Alan Oppenheimer is the voice of the narrator for the game's introduction and the voice of Darm, Book II's final boss.

Jim Cummings is the voice of Dalles, a boss in Book II.

Debi Derryberry is the voice of Feena.

If you go to http://www.imdb.com and search on "Ys", you will find the voice cast. If you cross-reference the actors to other works they've done, you'll find that many of the game's voice actors have experience in other animated shows and TV (I can't tell if it lists theater or radio credits).

just thought that was kinda cool!

Speaking of cool, Michael Bell (voice of Dark Fact) signed the cover of Ys I&II for a friend of mine at some con he went to.

I was just watching the first episode of Star Trek The Next Generation and Michael Bell was in it, it was awesome.  I remembered his voice from Soul Reaver though, I didn't know he did Dark Fact.

Yeah on a tangent,  the airline pilot in the movie "The Odd Couple II", is Matt McKenzie, the man who voiced Auron in Final Fantasy X.

It's crazy how these game voice actors show up in movies and you don't even know it until you check IMDB. I tried to look for Valis VA's but no avail.

Hey, do you have the text of the ending credits, with all of the names? Could you post it here? :)

It would be awesome just to find out more about the guy & gal who sang the  songs in Valis II !!!

Hold it right there, buddy...

There's no song in Japanese Valis 2. Don't tell me they dared add voices in the title and end credits!

I don't think the English Valis II voice actors don't even want us to know who they are. Let's keep it that way

I listened to the English dialogue on the first boss battle in Valis III....no emotion whatsoever.  :(

EDIT: Every time you see "Valis II", swap in "Final Zone II" and this post will be more comprehensible :)

Kaminari, there are two vocal tracks on Japanese Valis II! :)

The English versions are actually pretty close to matching the originals -- but the music is slightly remixed for both tracks (the rest of the music tracks were left untouched, by the way). Plus, the Japanese male vocal is more "gruff" and "fainter" than the "poppier", "in your face" English male vocal.

Personally, I think they are really catchy, poppy synth-pop. I have yet to hear many songs w/ vocals in a video game that I like as much...

Here is a project that I never finished (I need to update it):
1. Lyrics for "Bowie's Song" (Opening Title Screen in U.S. version)
2. Lyrics for Momoko's Theme Song (whenever you choose Momoko to play a stage)

UPDATE: I was pretty sure Ninja and I had discussed this before... so I found the old thread in which I nearly had an orgasm praising the music in Valis II.

Are you talking about Valis II or Final Zone II? I don't remember any songs in Valis II and I couldn't find them after skimming through the CD.

If you are talking about Valis II, which track numbers are they?

That's crazy that you made this thread because I was actually thinking of doing the same thing :D . I found the link on IMDB two or three years ago and I was really amazed back then (I even submittied a shitty review for the game). My personal favorite person in the casts was Thomas Haden Church, who does the voice for Goban. You might have seen him in a little early-90's sitcom called Wings :D . I'm not really a fan of that show, but I just watch it because of that sometimes. He also recently appeared in that movie about wine, with that Vincent guy.

Adding PCE console specific layer on top of that, makes for an interesting challenge (no, not a reference to Ys II).

Oh crap, my bad! I love the Valis 2 soundtrack the most! But I mixed it up with FZ II! In FZII, my favorite tracks are the ones with vocals :)

Kaminari rarely errs, that should have alerted me that I was mistaken... :)

I think the movie is "Sideways" -- Mr. Church was pretty good in that :)

Yeah, the old TurboList had some discussions on the voice actors. Needless to say, Ys I & II had a bigger budget than FZII and Valis II :)
