Jackie Chan's Action KungFu
« on: December 31, 2005, 01:07:55 AM »
This was the first game I owned for my TG-16 (besides Keith Courage which came with the system). I remember I got a TG-16 when Toys R Us was clearing them out and I had originally selected Pac-Land as my first game but they were out of stock. I'm very glad they were as this game ROCKS! What does everyone else think of this game? I'd like to hear what others say about it. On a side note I love the music for this game, I can still hear the tunes in my head.

As a matter of fact, you can even listen to them in HES format. The rip is available on my website :)

It definately has a very good soundtrack. Sometimes I'll pplay it just to hear the music (like the other day, hehe). The game is nice and challenging too but not cheap. One thing puzzles me though...how the hell did they pull off the apparent translucencies? :?

I sure wish I had a Duo-R at the time I went to a anime convention and saw the Japanese version for 10 bucks.  :(

That was 2002 when I only had a plain Jane TG16...

Jackie Chan Action Kung Fu... AWESOME, 'nuff said. :)

I've been meaning to pick up the NES version, because I've always been curious to compare them. Has anyone played the Famicom / NES game?

I bought Jackie Chan Action Kung Fu off of eBay a couple years ago for $20 or so and was happy because that seemed like a nice deal but the a$$hole thought it would be funny to put the game and instructions in a "China Warrior" case instead... :P . Great game and some very fine tunes indeed! I've played the NES version as well and it seemed just as good really, but I can't remember any distinct differences off hand and would have to play them both back to back sometime to compare them better.

Adding PCE console specific layer on top of that, makes for an interesting challenge (no, not a reference to Ys II).

Fantastic game, has anyone here beat it? It gets a bit tough on the later levels.

I made it to the last level, but it gets really hard from there. I think I either used up all my continues or gave up. There were these sets of dragons you had to fight and I remember them taking a bunch of life off of me so when I finally got past them, I didn't have much life to get any farther.

Beat it many times over. The final area is a pretty good challenge but once you know how to deal with the enemies in it, it becomes a cakewalk. The final bosses are kinda hard though, especially the first one.

Kaminari just posted it. Visit his site it's got a rip of it. You'll need Winamp to play it.

The music files are stored in RX-files > HES Music Files on my website.

The plugin is available on RuRuRu's site. Look for NEZplug at the top of the Software page, you should see two links in Japanese: the first one is the compiled plugin, the second one is the source code.
