Perseid meteor shower,
« on: August 10, 2012, 10:45:10 PM »
anyone? With 60-100 meteors per hour predicted and only a crescent moon, it might be worth a look-see if you're under clear skies.

For those interested: you can find viewing times for your location here.

Oh, I'll absolutely check it out if the friggin' clouds clear up tonight:

Sadly, there is a chance of rain into the evening.

I was looking for them last night.  If I can, plan is to take a girl with me, lie on our backs and look qat the stars.  Actually, when me and Donna met, we did something like that, and I told her the story of Orpheus and Eurydice.

It's been raining nonstop here for the last 3 days and more rain is expected for the next 3 days.  Rain like this is not normal in Michigan :/

Yeah, we're expecting thunderstorms here starting anytime now and lasting until 4 or 5am.  During the peak hours of the meteor shower here in NC.

Meh.

I'm still going out in a bit to see, but I guess I won't be setting up my camera for time lapse.

I once saw a movie where people looked at a meteor shower and then everyone who looked turned into zombies.  :shock:Can not remember the name of the movie.

Night of the Comet. It's a friggin' awesome movie and features a VIDEO GAME subplot so how could we not love it?

Tatsujin and all the other folks who need to consume American pop culture: Night of the Comet. Watch it. Embrace it. Tell me the screenwriter didn't have a little love for the arcade and I'll smack you.

Looks like it's a bust for me.  Thankfully I got out in the day when it was sunny.

I only saw a few faint ones but couldn't make it out to a better viewing spot. Oh well, better luck next time.
