Oh I agree. I'm sure that there are many who think they ace Vigilante because they use auto fire, only to go play the arcade game via mame or a cab and find they get their ass kicked for lack of that feature. What I have always loved about Vigilante of TG/PCE is how solid a port it is. In general in fact, if you compare how accurate arcade ports on the likes of Genesis are compared to how they were on Necs hardware, Nec wins hands down because it retains the look and feel in most cases, regardless of using Hu-Card or Cd.
The Genesis does have some shining examples like Two Crude Dudes, Wrestlewar, Gain Ground, Strider, Hellfire and other Toaplan titles, and The Punisher, but over all its count doesn't stack up as high as Nec does with its long list of classic arcade titles by Irem, Taito, Capcom, Data East, SNK, Konami, etc that were ported over. In fact Konami was on a great streak up until they botched the Martial Champion port. And when I say botched, it is only because it was too ambitious a project for Super Cd, and it should have used the arcade card. Because they did not do so they had to cut some animation and sprite size was cut down pretty drastically (arcade characters sprite size was on par with Art of Fighting). Compared to what they cut though, they still retained a ton in the port so its not "terrible".
