I actually dont even recommend people buy Martial Champion unless they played and liked the original arcade game. The game doesn't share the same play mechanics found in Street Fighter 2, so its liable to turn many people away.

martial champion's amazing intro is worth it alone..hehe. but yeah it's a pity that they had to cut down the sprite size in such a drastically way :(
the rest seems to be intact.

I loved Martial Champions in the arcade.  I actually liked it better than SF2 at the time.  When I saw the pc-engine port in Gamefan, and saw the intro was there I was like "hell yes!"  Bought it from Die Hard Gamefan and was fairly disappointed.  Some levels have zero animation.  Now I just play the cheap pcb on a supergun.  I will still never sell the pc-engine one though.

Yeah the battleship stage was like one of the ones that I really liked that took a major hit visually, but in general a lot of them just loss their animated spots and finer details. It just sucks. I know the system could have handled the game way easier had the arcade card been used. Konami should have waited. I think they were too concerned with trying to cash in on the fighting game craze. For PCE back before the arcade card there wasn't that many fighters on Pc Engine, so there was a decent lack of competition and a good chance to make money.

Vigilante is one of my favorite games for the Turbo.   I first played it in the late 90s when my aunt gave me all her turbo stuff.   I immediately discovered that plowing through full tilt was the best way to play.

It's my kind of beat em up. I hate stopping and having to wait for the little blinky arrow to tell me I am allowed to continue ending lives.

Im the kid that plays Mario with the run button held in the whole time.   That's probably why I liked Sonic more.

I've recently gone back and played Vigilante with the Turbo Stick and find it to be even funner that way.  Jump kicking the motorcycle douches is awesome.

and, the Turbo version is better than the arcade because you don't have that tinny, farty-shit IREM FM music!

Ha! You use the TurboStick and it helps to jumpkick the motorcycle dudes? I might try that. My timing sucks on the bridge. Ha!

No, it doesn't help, I just find that the game is more fun with the joystick.

Those were two separate comments about the game :D

I like watching him bounce off their heads all Jackie Chan style.

I did a play through again yesterday of Vigilante and I just realized, though I need to play through again to make sure, that the last boss is only exposed to a attack when his feet are in a certain specific position when he is taking a step forward or back.  If I am right it would help cut down on that 1-2 credits I'd normally use at him to beat him because I usually just go wild and attack him with a volley of jump kicks and standing kicks and pray for results, unlike the other bosses that have clear and definite weak spots and patterns and can be walked all over if you take your time and attack them right.

Yes. IIRC, you can use the "lever" that operates chain that hold up Madonna as a visual guide as where to stand. The bastard usually grabs me by the throat and tosses me at least 2-3 times. Because he can.

Ha! I didn't read those two sentences as two separate comments--I blame WISHFUL THINKING. Ha!
