But I really prefer the PCE version and yes, I am biased.

Haha, I love this line and respect people who do flat out admit they are biased. It just make them seen so.... not biased in a way ;) .

Adding PCE console specific layer on top of that, makes for an interesting challenge (no, not a reference to Ys II).

By the way, I searched for that previous Snatcher thread, but it didn't have any music download links like I might have thought. If anyone has the PSG music from the PCE one available, I'd love to listen to them! Maybe I should just go buy the game instead :P .

Buy the game and run the debug mode ;)

I recorded a handful of tracks from my Duo but I don't have enough space to host them.

I too am biased towards the PCE version, for a couple of (not so biased) reasons: the Japanese voiceover is obviously better (although the US one is immensely hilarious -- Ray Van Steen rules big time!), the graphics are a tad more colourful and the PSG tracks are undoubtedly superior (some of the FM arrangements of the Mega CD version are really mediocre -- not even talking about the CD tracks, like the death of *****, which have been totally changed and botched up).

Thanks a lot for the post, Black_Tiger; it was really great to read, I've never read any other pro-PCE version thoughts on the game really and you specified information that no other source I have read has mentioned. I can agree with you somewhat on the voice acting. A lot of voices are on the cheesy side, but I love cheesy voice acting :D , but the actors don't do a flat out terrible job as if they sounded like they were reading straight from the script, like in say Ys III. I thought it was a decent voice acting job overal, but certainly not the best.

Yeah, the acting's not bad at all by game standards, although like I said I was really dissapointed with the voices/accents the first time I played it. The important thing is that its entertaining.

But after revisiting the game, I now know that the acting and voices are a notch below Valis II Turbo CD, which gets slagged as amature, while Snatcher Sega CD is worshipped for it's voice work by Sega CD players, who I assume weren't playing Turbo Duo games before that.

You should play The Space Adventure for Sega CD. Its an awesome port of the PC Engine CD game Cobra II.

The dialogue and acting are as good as anything I've played in English. Its the closest any game has come to a quality comic book.

If you like Army Of Darkness, then you have to buy the game right away. Its not bad acting/dialogue kinda cheeze, like how Army Of Darkness is in a league way above They Live.

Its more like Sin City, but with more dark humour(and it still has lots of swearing). :D

Hey, have we ever discussed They Live? That's a great one. Anyway, I'll have to check out The Space Adventure for SegaCD. I don't think I ever played it, and your recommendation has intrigued me.

During the first scene against the villian, when you're surrounded and choose the Look command,  -Crystal Boy(I think thats his name), the result: "a$$hole".

What I liked most about it is how smooth the gameplay is. You don't spend as much time as Snatcher running around wondering what to do. There are less commands, but it feels more interactive.

After talking about it, I think I might fire it up and play through again tonight. :)

They Live is the source of the 2 lines from Duke Nukem 3D that weren't ripped off of Army Of Darkness. 8)

Thanks a TON for the mp3, Black_Tiger; that was just what I needed! I have to agree, I find most of the tracks better, though there were maybe one or two that I prefered on the Sega CD. It's really nice to hear these tracks in PSG :D .

By the way, I've been wanting to play Cobra and Cobra II on PCE ever since I first saw screenshots for them on NEC-Ro-Pole a long time ago, it totally looked like my kind of game. Cobra II especially interested me since I saw shots of this badass guy on a bike and then going to the bar. I'll certainly look into getting the PCE ones and the english Sega CD one some time, are any of these rare/expensive?

You should be able to find the PCE games for $1 - $5 each. I haven't gotten into the first one, but the second would be possible in Japanese, although I wouldn't recomend it before the Sega Cd game. I beleive that there are visual and/or stage select tricks for both games, so they're still worth buying.

The Sega CD game, just called "The Space Adventure" is so worthless that its hard to find people selling it, so you'll have to keep an eye open for it.

Alright thanks. I was looking on eBay for the Cobra games and I tried typing for "Cobra Space Adventure Sega CD" and other keywords like that, but found nothing for it. I'll have to start looking for "The Space Adventure" next time, since that's the real title.

While Snatcher's English voiceover was great in its cheesy way, I found the port of Cobra 2 to be just awful. Not only the translations are bad, but the voices are terrible. Cobra on the PC Engine was blessed to be voiced by drama actor Yasuo Yamada, who was picked up personally by Terasawa. Once you've heard Yamada, you can't even watch the series (in Japanese) anymore.
