In French, all the systems are female because they're all a "console". The same goes for cars, "voiture (french for car)" is a feminin word so we say "une Mustang" or "une BMW".
Exactly. But in Quebec we also use the company name as in "a Nintendo" or "a Sega" then both are male in this case. I personnaly never used the feminine when refering to a console as i call them by their name "NES, Genesis, Saturn, TG-16 etc) and they are all masculine.
