BRAVOMAN: A webcomic written by me!
« on: October 16, 2012, 11:29:47 AM »
Hi there all!

My name is Matt Moylan, and I write a webcomic about Namco's Bravoman (A wacky Japanese arcade game later ported to the PC Engine/TG-16) and would like to know what some die-hard TG-16 fans think of it!

If it seems like an odd/obscure choice for a webcomic, that's the point! Shiftylook (Namco Bandai's webcomics division) is all about reviving old lesser known properties and giving them a fresh take. I've been having a blast working on the Bravoman strips along with artist Dax Gordine. We've done about 80 strips so far and still going strong!

You can start reading with the very first comic, or check out the latest one and work backwards!
First Bravoman strip: http://www.shiftylook.com/comics/bravoman/bravoman-001
Latest Bravoman strip: http://www.shiftylook.com/comics/bravoman

Here are a few of my favorite strips, love to hear your comments!

Cool, fun little comic and story, Love the elements from all games, including the PCE/Tg16/arcade stuff.
NW: Hey, I made it on this psycho's Enemies' List, how about that ?? ;)

BT: Look at how the fake SFII' carts instantly sold out and were immediately listed on eBay before the flippers even took possession. Look at Nintendo's overpriced bricks. Look at the typical forum discussions elsewhere.

You can't tell most retro gamers anything!

Definitely cool to see one of the creators here.  Please let the suits on Namcot Island know that retro gamers appreciate all the cool reboots!

I'm up to date on the Bravoman and Momo ones, and I've read a bit of the some of the others like Valkyrie and the newer Klonoa.  Let me just say that I wish I'd been able to get to Comic Con because it looks like you guys were giving out some cool shirts there.

I also second more cool promo merch!  Bravoman, Momo, or (dare we dream) Klonoa plushies would be awesome.

Hah, I'm sure it would be bloody and cute.

Actually Bravoman is almost always 4 panels, it could easily be stacked and flipped to make 4-komas for Japanese readers ;)

If you and your artist take on it, I'm in! MOAR NETS! So you guys gonna localize for the JP market or what? lol

Anyway, I'm almost caught up and moving forward to the Cross over. Looking forward to that.

Now get you a PC-Engine or a TG-16 (Modded of course) and enjoy the old school Namcot games and the rest of the systems library.

Oh and this crew here needs more swag :D
