I second the GoT love.  Such an awesome game, and a freebie with the Duo to boot!!  :)  I've never really played Download for more than a few stages.  I wonder if I should just give that one some attention.

I suck at Download, yet can beat Gate of Thunder with ease.

Adding PCE console specific layer on top of that, makes for an interesting challenge (no, not a reference to Ys II).

second.
I have no real problems with GoT, despite my love, but goddamn, Download just kind of shit stomps me into the ground.
at least I get to lol at the game over screens.

Download and GoT have equal difficulty levels in my opinion, neither is really difficult but both will require some playthoughs and strategy to defeat. For a good and difficult shooter that isn't real expensive Aero Blasters is an excellent choice. You'll get many hours of enjoyment (and frustration) before you beat that one.

I actually own this one as well. Isn't it two player? I wanna say I have been waiting to pop it in till i had a solid shoot em up partner

Yes it has a two player option, if you own it and are ready for another good shooter I wouldn't wait for a partner, it's a fun yet difficult game.
