No wonder why you don't hear about people getting trampled on in Japan.

When I was watching that I was thinking "WTF, they don't have Black Friday in Japan, that looks like Comiket or something." and that's exactly what it is.

A lot of the stuff at Comiket is limited to a few hundred units, and at its peak it was drawing half a million people so, yeah, organization is really important. The people aren't there for a bargain though, they are there to get things that will never be available again.

I know the youtube name was misleading. :) Still, thats a hell of a lot more organized than Black Friday here in the States and a whole lot more people in one area.

Japanese tend to be cooperative, that's one thing, but another thing is the number of staff employed for events like this. There's always a staggering number of staff members telling people where to go - more than I can imagine seeing at similar events in the U.S.

when it comes to queuing-up, there is NO other country like Japan.
it's a pure culture thing.

Reminds me of something from Genshiken:
"I'm telling you this for your own good...your job is not to buy stuff. Your job is to get in line.
If it sells out, then move to the next line. But stay in line even if it kills you."
CHECKPOINT!

Go to a rock festival in Japan. If you want to be an a$$hole and push your way to the front row, the rest of the crowd will let you.
