Side Scrolling RPG's
« on: November 19, 2012, 08:48:29 AM »
I know the system has 'em. I don't know many of them. Which are worth looking into?

Thinking along the lines of Blood Gear, Exile, etc..

Thanks!

Xanadu I and II have side scrolling bits; and while they're short, you'd be hard pressed to find better looking ones.

I may be wrong but isn't Cadash a side-scrolling RPG?

Bikkuriman Land/Wondoy Boy Monster Land

Be warned though, it's very difficult. I never got far into that game. It's fun though.

Technically... yes... but also no. It counts as an RPG on the basis of experience gathering alone; otherwise it'd just be a straight platform adventure game.

Cadash is great!

I vote that it counts as a side-scrolling RPG.

I've always wanted to play Cadash. I heard that there is a very lame Genesis port, which omits a boss, and only has two characters, but is closer to the arcade.

You heard correctly; the Genesis port lacks the Priest and the Ninja. I don't remember a missing boss though (it's been a few years since I trekked through that dreck). It does look and play more like the arcade version. The PCE/TG16 isn't so much a port as it is a reinterpretation. Normally, reinterpretations f*ck everything up, but in this case, the game came out way better... IMO. The PCE/TG16 version doesn't look or play anything like the arcade... and that's a good thing all around.

EDIT: Come to think of it... I think the Genesis version is missing the Crawling Kelp boss... maybe? That might be the one.
