Has anyone here ever gone?  I'm just wondering how it compares to the Classic Gaming Expo, how many people are there, what they have, etc.

I've never been to it, but thinking about going this summer since a person on the Magic Engine message boards recommended it to me.

Adding PCE console specific layer on top of that, makes for an interesting challenge (no, not a reference to Ys II).

I'll be going.  Actually, my website is sponsoring the event.  We're going to do a live podcast from the show, including a gameshow-style contest with a bunch of prizes.

It seems like a rather small event, but we thought we'd give it a shot and see how it goes.

Just to revive this topic, I would like to say that there is a good chance I am going to the Midwest Gaming Classic this year, which starts on June 2nd I think. If anyone else is planning on going, please post and we can try to meet up! I'll more than likely be in a group of four (two of my bros and my cousin). I talk to one of the guys who runs these conventions online and from the sound of it, this year's show is going to be huge! Just to list some of the people and sponsors coming:

Sega
JagFest
Ralph Baer (!)
Atlus
Digital Press (I think)

Check out this link for a video of the 2004 convention. According to the guy I talk to, it's going to be a lot bigger than 2004's due to the new location! It definitely looks exciting, so anyone else interested, post up :) .

Hey Guys,

Make sure you stop by the Team Fremont booth (we'll be the first one you see as you walk in) and play some Turbografx with me.  I'm going to have one set up with a pile of games, along with an Atari and an NES.

Also, we're doing a live episode from the show on Saturday with a game show/trivia contest.  You can win a bunch of classic gaming stuff, etc.

And finally, a bunch of our listeners are getting together Saturday night, going out to a local bar/restaurant, and hanging out.  You're all welcome to come.  Just stop by and say hi.  (My name's John, BTW;)).

We also did an interview w/one of the organizers on last week's show.  Just hit this link and listen to the 5/21 episode:

Can't wait to meet you guys!

Awesome guys, glad to see you are going (though I already knew jleud was going since I was aware of Team Fremont being there). I'll definitely try finding and playing some good old Turbo games with you, jleud; that would rock. Should I bring any Turbo goods or video game goods in general?

That's up to you.  I'm going to have about a dozen or so Turbo games to play at the booth, along with the other consoles.

We're working on the game show right now, and the prizes will be many.  It looks like it's going to be played by two teams of two and it'll be Saturday afternoon.  We're doing it in cooperation with diehardgamer.com.  Should be a good time.

Looking forward to meeting you guys!

Nice.

I'll actually just have a Turbografx set up at the booth since I don't really want to take a bunch of CD games and a pricey Duo.  But I'll have a Tap and probably Dungeon Explorer and some other multiplayer titles.

Oh, and I won't be there until Saturday morning.

My Duo stopped recognizing CD's so thats not going to work either.

I could just bring my PC with Magic Engine on it.  I also have 5 PC gamepads.  Then we could play DE 2.

Just an Idea.

Crap, I didn't realize that it was this weekend. I'll try to go, but I doubt that I'll be able to make it. I attended a couple of years ago and had a really good time.

Hey jleud, I'm going to talk to this guy who helps run it and ask if it's cool if I bring in one of my systems and see if I can hook it up with other people displays (like yours, if that's ok with you). I have a perfectly working Turbo Duo and PCE+CDROM2 and a handful of five player games and five controllers. I'd be more than willing to bring it all so I can play these games with other Turbo fans out there :) . I'm also going to bring my Express.

No problem, man.  That'd be fine with me.  The more people I can get playing the Turbo Duo the better.  Just stop by the booth and we'll get you hooked up.

We're just going to need it all cleared out from 5-7 on Saturday.  That's when we're having the big game show/trivia contest.
