So I tried to go to the post office and get the Canadian shipping questions answered and they were, to put it mildly, less than helpful.  Not only did I not much of the info I needed but they tried to tell me they were out of small flat rate boxes when I asked for a handful.  He did tell me that I would have to fill out customs forms even for a magazine. So finally after getting annoyed and short with the guy, he gives me 2 small flat rates and tells me thats all they have. I get pissed and walk away.  While leaving I take a look to the left and see the flat rate box stand (full of boxes he said they were out of), take a handful and walk out.  So for you Canadians, I'm sorry but I don't want to deal with having to go into the post office, filling out customs forms or any of their employee bullshit. I'm going to stick with U.S. Shipping only.  Sorry guys.
All is well. :)

No problem.  Just curious, but when did the USPS become such a bunch of a$$holes?  Is it the union or are these just a bunch of misfit students working for them.  The stories I've heard of their incompetence seem to be escalating.  Also, a customs form on a magazine?  That's idiotic.  If I mail photos, a birthday card or a letter do I need a customs form?  No.  Because it's over 8oz. it all of a sudden needs a form?  Something doesn't jive.  What if I was the best pen pal in the world and like to write think letters?

Thanks for looking into it Roy, sorry to get you upset.  It pisses me off too.

Roy - if you use Paypal, you can print international shipping labels including the customs declaration right from the Paypal site, as it links to the USPS.

I use it for Canada post shipping (I am in Canada) and I never have to go to the post office any more...

Lost Monkey, you can just use the Canada Post website for this as well.  Handy if the transaction is not through eBay as I believe PayPal charges you for printing the forms and address labels for "gifting"

There is no Paypal charge at all, plus you get the Canada Post discounts.   I sent a package to my sister's before Christmas and it was ~$5 less to use Paypal shipping than the postal outlet rate.

It works for the "buyer" of the shipping the same way as any other transaction - the fees are paid by the receiver of the funds - which in this case is Canada Post.  Plus if you already have funds in your account...

Without totally derailing Roys thread here, just to update on my little venture to USPS today to ship Sparkys package. From my state to Sparky it was $3.60 for First Class International for 4.4oz. Customs form was a lot smaller then what it was when I had to mess with the stuff a few years back, and I no longer had to fill out more then one copy which was nice. Anyway, took all of 3 mins to do. Granted, I have zero desire to do this again unless it is raffle related, because I prefer USPS pick up stuff from my house and all. But I mean, if I was still making regular trips down to USPS and the sale was just a small forum purchase and the buyer accepted responsibility concerning no insurance or tracking, this should not be that big a deal for someone doing regular trips there.  Again, I stress, only if I was still making regular trips to USPS. I stopped doing that though a year ago because it was just a waste of gas money and time, so its no longer ideal for someone like me.

Was a slight delay in shipping but everything was just dropped off at the post office.  If you have made payment your items are now on their way.  Thanks!
All is well. :)
