According to the title screen, it's Volfiev. Otherwise they would have spelled it Volfied. It's probably just one of those silly Japanese uses of Western letters. Like Gley Lancer. They can't get anything right.

Question for those who have actually played this game:

How similar is Volfie? to Cacoma Knight in Bizyland (for the SNES)?  I have played Cacoma Knight and enjoyed it, and the reviews/screenshots make Volfie?'s gameplay seem pretty similar.
